Yep. OCN has gone out.Might want to make sure the generators are all in good working condition for the weekend. Ercot has given a request for people to conserve power since they expect a record or near record load.
What does OCN stand for?Yep. OCN has gone out.
Operating Condition Notices. Kind of a "be aware."What does OCN stand for?
Why are they expecting such a heavy load?
Lack of wind generation alone?
Temps are mild in DFW, and seems to be similar across the whole state…?
It’s been windy for a month…they should have put some thought to it and just bottle-up some of that extra wind for later use

Highs projected to be 95-96 in Central Texas for next few days. 104-105 in West Texas. Mid 90's on the coast. Why are they expecting such a heavy load?

Exactly. Maintenance outages as well. Companies are running behind schedule on their plant maintenances as some that were scheduled during the cold snaps were put off out of an abundance of caution.Planned outages are scheduled to end next Friday on most projects.
This heat wave is just at a time when grid upgrades are wrapping up.
I've been at a balmy 84° down in the Caribbean for several weeks now. Missing out on all that fun.
Rough job but someone has to do it!I've been at a balmy 84° down in the Caribbean for several weeks now. Missing out on all that fun.
When I was a kid I lived on Grand Bahama Island. The summers I would spend in Washington state. It would take me about two weeks to get used to the humidity when I got home.Just got back and yes the humidity is way up there, especially when diving in Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. Above the surface was very sticky. Fun but exhausted now. Sunday a day of rest for me.
Here in west Texas "before it gets hot outside" has come and gone. After a month without a power outage, I thought it was time exercise the generators last weekend. As power went down about a hour ago, it's time to start a generator before it gets hot outside.
It never came last night. Here in west Texas "before it gets hot outside" has come and gone.
