Or worse, you get your wallet out and (as the gun is just 'hooked' over belt) it drops to the floor.
That shouldn't happen with proper belt selection. Hip grips and variations thereof require a much narrower belt that tends to lock the revolver into position by putting the cylinder fully below the tightened belt.

That's hard to achieve. It's impossible with most combinations of firearm and belt. But it's what you strive for when you use a revolver grip designed to formalize what used to be called Mexican carry.

BTW, I'm also a believer in keeping/getting your LTC for reasons I've stated elsewhere.

    "hip grip" for concealed carry
Concealed carry does NOT require a holster. The real question would be 'printing/exposing'. Personally, I'd not use one as there is NO retention capability. But you could just stick the revolver in your pocket, problem solved.

It’s perfectly legal to “print” or have your shirt ride up over a pistol with concealed carry, and was before open carry passed. Incidental exposure was and is not a crime.

One thing to remember for those that just want to get the information. You can take the class and qualify and get the certificate without sending it in for the license. You have 2 years to use it if you choose to.

Toddn - you confuse the law with the public perception.
If the OP carries Inside the pants, probably concealed carry, no holster needed. If between the pant and belt - doubt it ever has been considered legally. For the reasons I stated, I personally wouldn't do that.
Kinda like 'open carry' when hunting on private property - nobody cares what you do - unless the owner asks you to leave.

No, I don’t confuse the law with public perception. If you peruse DPS’ arrest stats going back as far as they have available, there’s been exactly two arrests for a .07 violation and zero for a .06 violation. Both .07s were for after oral notice by the owner and only one resulted in a conviction.

This idea that a license holder is going to get fûcked by LEOs on a .06/.07 violation just doesn’t hold up to what the data states and license holders don’t need to be spreading old wives tales.

But the holster clip would 'maybe' not considered a holster which I think was the OPs question. So you wear it under a long tailed shirt or jacket, but it gets exposed - concealed or not? I know Palestine DQ is signed no open carry. You go in, order and open you jacket to pay and get a visit from PO PO. Opps. Or worse, you get your wallet out and (as the gun is just 'hooked' over belt) it drops to the floor. Now if carried IWB, don't see a big problem, not open carry.
If this were true, it would be all over the Palestine Herald Press, and Facebook.

The older gal with black/blue hair might ask you to leave but as the sign isn't 'official', you don't so she calls LE. You then leave or wait for LE to hash it out? Common sense seems to be lacking here.

Do you live in Palestine? I actually live outside of Palestine and your comment is false and misleading because if people were getting arrested as you are implying, it would be in the Palestine Herald Press and people would be talking about it on Facebook. None of which has happened. Our family eats at the DQ on occasion.

people were getting arrested as you are implying -- never implied that, DQ @ 19 & south loop. Strap your gun in a holster and check it out. Merely stated to the OP that his 'holster' gun, carried just inside the belt could be construed as open carry and could get public concerned about it.

Trust me, very few in Palestine are concerned about it, least of all any local LE.

When I carry, (which is most of the time), concealed or visible, in a full holster or a "hip grip", I personally don't give a rats ass about what other people think.

As a new Texan resident, I would like to know if it's worth my time applying for a License to Carry, or to just Constitutionally carry. I know there are some advantages with the LTR, but not sure if it's worth going through the motions of obtaining it. Any recommendations would be appreciated, thank you.
Welcome! I arrived here in 2018 (so I'm still new, I guess) and after getting my license & plates switched over, the next thing I did was get my LTC (there was no permitless carry at the time). It expires next year and I fully intend to renew it as I still travel to states that do not have permitless carry. I think it gives you a "dedication" to safe handling. Nothing scares me more than some yahoo buying a handgun, never firing it and thinking he's going to protect the entire restaurant from a mass shooter. That's one person I wouldn't want to be next to if the SHTF......additionally, I understand it carries a bit of leniency from the LEO's should you get pulled over.
