I saw this one on Buds Guns site and was wondering what makes it so different that it can only be sold to LE, ex LE, or military or ex military? Seems like it just another 357 magnum revolver. Anybody know what makes it different?

My friend Ed wanted to buy it from them, but that said they could only sell it to LE or military. He had to send them a copy of his VA card and then they said he could buy it.

I don't think there is any valid reason not to let everyone who in not a criminal buy it.

I've never had any issues with Bud's. Everything shipped quickly and was as described. I don't really care for two separate prices depending on how you pay but their prices usually fall inline with everyone else and/or tend to be slightly cheaper from time to time. They weren't charging tax last time I ordered but that may have changed.

ETA: They are now charging 8.25% for Texas residents....bummer

Some firearms are earmarked for special discounts. Case in point, "Blue" pricing on Glocks. Nobody is saying you can't get one if you don't qualify but you will pay more.
That was not the problem. They would not sell it to Ed unless had proof he was once in the military. I can see giving police a discount but that's not what this was. I was just surprised is all.

Lol, I told Ed I should edit the image on his VA card and put a klan hood on it. He said go ahead but I decided it would be a bad idea!

The description you posted was for the LE discount version. The same 686 Plus is available without LE in the description for full price when available.
I just looked back at the op and I don't see where it says anything about a discount. All I am trying to say is that they would not sell Ed the gun at any price unless he could prove he was once in the military. That makes no sense to me.

It’s in your thread title FFS. Search Buds for that title. Look what category it comes up in (hint, see my first post.) Look at the item description and write down the S&W model number. Then search for that model number. There will be 2 listings. One regular price and one *GASP!* with LE only pricing.

Ok, I get that, but it's got nothing to do with pricing. The lady said she could only sell it to LE or military. No one else. That's what I don't understand.

I too have had pretty good luck with Bud’s. I remember a few years back they had a data breach and my credit card got smoked. They advised me before any damage could be done. PITA changing the card but they were on top of their game.

This was the only time I have dealt with them and the gun isn't even for me. I just couldn't grasp why they would only sell a simple 357 revolver to only LE or military. Beats me, maybe it was just some misunderstanding. He got it ordered though.
