If OP (or anyone else) needs a donor barrel for an integrally suppressed CZ 455 in 22lr I've got a 20 inch? Varmint contoured factory barrel buried in the Classifieds somewhere. Sell it to ya, CHEAP! ;)

My charger will cycle on almost all subsonic rounds. It is noticeably louder than the bolt gun above, which still isn’t a lot.
I did not shoot or examine the rifle as the man was surrounded by folks. I could see it was a heavily modified 10/22. It was wearing a heavy barrel and a custom stock. All you heard when he fired was a tink of a dropping firing pin.

What’s your proof coyotes killed your dog?

    Are you outside CL?

What, you an animal attorney for the ACLU or something?

Not that it’s any of your business, but I found his remains. Kinda wish I hadn’t, but at least we know what happened and were able to have him cremated.

    Now FO.

    Guy,

Your not the first and won't be the last to lose a pet to coyotes.

I, as the rest here surely are, am sorry you had to find a pet you loved like that, but it doesn't give you pass on being a dick when answering a simple question.

He asked a question, just answer the question as asked or dont. A simple "I found the remains and kinda wish I hadnt" would have checked all the boxes.

I didn't mean any disrespect, mate. I know the feeling of loosing a good buddy and I'm sorry to hear about yours.

Too many folks are quick to blame yotes for crimes they didn't commit. I was just trying to verify before you go and get medieval on some yotes.

I was asking about CL to try and get a better feel for your terrain. Whether or not you need absolute stealth? Or is it legal to shoot where your at- but just don't want to disturb your neighbors? Is distance a factor?

In my mind, when I think coyote hunting, .22lr doesn't come to mind first.

Not as quiet as my Ruger's but really fun with the M-16 lower Silencerco Spectre II can.

I'd consider a integrally suppressed barrel for a 10/22 or 77/22 or one of the CZ models if you are starting from scratch.

You are thinking small man. SBR Ruger 10/22 suppressed machine gun with the 50 round Black Dog drum mags. 10” integrally suppressed barrel. 3 stamps, one very quiet MG.

Or just get an American 180 and suppress it. Launch 450 rounds in 10 seconds or so and you should get any coyotes that show up.

Thanks, and sorry for the ballistic response.

I’ve hunted my whole life and seen pretty much everything animals can do to each other (including people.). But finding our little man like that was a disturbing sight I can’t unsee. Still, no excuse.

I’m barely in the city limits and right on the edge of an ever-shrinking rural area. My house backs up to an Oncor right of way about 125 yards wide by 600 long and woods at either end. We get deer feeding right up to our back fence (which is what we thought he was barking at), turkeys from nearby river bottoms, and pretty much everything else native to the area.

Unfortunately, it’s still the burbs and some of my yuppie neighbors (especially next door) would freak at the notion of someone shooting coyotes (unless, of course, it had been their dog.)

I have no illusions of eradication (that’s impossible) but just cap one or two to let the bastards know they’re not at the top of the food chain anymore. They’re smart enough to stay away after that. Then possibly repeat annually as needed.

And yes, some payback for our little man would be extremely satisfying.

What I envisioned is getting them as close to the back fence as possible (maybe baiting) and shoot down from an elevated position. to avoid skip ricochets. No long-range sniping.

I’ve killed a few coyotes while deer hunting, or that answered my turkey call, but never actually hunted them, so I have no idea if that would work. I suspect though, that these suburban dogs would be a lot less wary than their cousins out in the country who get shot at regularly.

Kill as many as you can. I hate the bastards. I have no suggestions for a rim fire to kill them though. I would .300 blackout bolt action their asses.

Any bolt action .22 with subs and a can is stupid quiet.
But will the kill a coyote? Probably not. As mentioned above a 30 cal bolt or single shot with a can is a much better choice.
    40-50 grain at ≈1000 FPS vs 200 gain at ≈ 1000 FPS.
30 cal will have 6X more energy at the same speed. Granted a good 30 cal can will cost more, but not all that much if you shop around.
I have a lever action 22 that is basically silent with subs and no can. The loudest part by far is the hammer falling. No can needed. But a 30 cal would put it to shame in energy.
