I cannot imagine allowing someone else to clean my firearms, however, having cleaned firearms for others on a few occasions I would say it is not beyond reason at all. Could it be a lucrative business?

Kinda neat how the first two posters in this thread joined a week apart, and both posted within 10 minutes.
Y'all must be on the same wavelength.

To the op: unlike some places on the net, buying a supporter tag here does not protect you from the admins or even the mods. Being an insufferable dick is one of the most popular ways to earn a ban around here.
There is always the IGNORE option. (this SOMETIMES kept me from posting 'snotty' answers to stupid questions)

I still prefer sarcasm to IGNORE but.....................................

I doubt it. There was just such a business in a strip center near me. They had no FFL on display and sold no guns or ammo. They sold lots of swag-type items but their main business, theoretically, was they would take in firearms for cleaning. I don't remember the exact costs but I remember thinking they were quite high. They lasted less than a year.

I know of gunsmiths who do this work but they don't really like it so they charge exorbitant rates.

I could see having a gunsmith tearing down an antique firearm that feels really rough or totally abused! I recently had problems with my G3K not running burst or full auto. I am no way a machine gun smith. I did think about sending it off to one of the few qualified smiths, but the shipping & wait time told me I could do it!

After recently shooting a few hundred rounds to see that I figured it out I put it up dirty. KJQ6945 Offered to clean it when he was last here, but he and ez-e came to fish. Hell he might have just wanted to see the extra shit in the burst housing!

it’s sad that some people always feel it is their obligation/right, to high jack a thread, and turn it into their own personal and negative crusade, to prove just how awesome and right they are about everything.
I don’t know why I expected this site to be any different.
feel Free to continue with your own righteousness here, as I will not return to this thread.

Sorry you feel that way. Maybe another forum would be more to your liking and preferences.

My question was actually rhetorical…I have seen what gunsmiths charge for such work

I finally let the dealership change my oil. Been doing so for a while. Disposing of used oil correctly was that factor. Before I moved I always had access to getting rid of my oil. Used oil ain’t no joke.

I will never pay someone to clean my guns. that’s part of getting to know your weapons and now my son is very interested.

All of my Toyota’s get free oil changes for life. All use synthetic oil.
40+ oil changes in the 2008 Corolla, 27+ in the 2013 Corolla and 25+ in the 2015 Tacoma.
