I was at the Academy in San Marcos yesterday morning and they had a lot of ammo in stock. The only odd thing about it is that it's behind the gun counter. Still a 2 box limit too.
A lot of locations in the Houston area have it behind the counter. An employee told me it's because people tried to get around the 2 box limit by hiding multiple boxes all over the store and then come back for them later.

16 cents a round for Blazer .22lr ? That's absurd ! I'm still finding all the .22lr I need for a nickel a round at various places. That Norma .22 has been sitting on the shelf for weeks and weeks now at Academy. They can eat it for all I care.

    Still at two boxes. :(

I got two boxes of green tip XM855 last month. It was a little expensive, but I had no green tip and wanted to try some out. I also got a box of .355 bullets, and the cashier lady wasn't sure if that made three boxes (I showed her the picture and explained that it was ammunition parts and not ready to shoot, and she said it was okay then).

It is when it's all you can find in the area. And it's a better deal than the Norma stuff.

I tried a box in my LCPII .22lr out of curiosity. It ran fine. But I don't see it as $10/50rds good.....

GT letting you buy ammo without buying a gun again?
Yes, but like a 2-box/month limit

Mentioned this in the GT thread but since you asked and so others can be informed.

GTs in Austin has a 2 box limit OF EACH CALIBER per month unless you donate. $5 gets you another 100 rounds and $10 gets another 100 rounds.

So you can leave with 300 rounds of each caliber after making the required donations still for less than what I saw at Academy.

They had pallets of 9mm fmj for $17.99/ 50 plus many others available especially if you are LEO/ military/ or ex of either.

This was about a week ago and seemed pretty normal. I pulled in there right at lunchtime and expected them to be swarmed but it really wasn't bad.

OK, got my curiosity up so I went to my Academy in Garland. Sure enough, they have moved the ammo back out to where they BB's are and raised the limit to 4 boxes for rifle and handgun ammo, and 10 boxes of shotgun shells.

So, since I didn't see much that was above 50 per box, it's hardly worth the trip.

They only had Some Hornaday 9mm stuff at $22 or $23 a box of 50, some .223 and 5.56 which I don't remember the price, and the same 20 cent a round Norma .22lr that they can't seem to give away.

So I guess, that might be a signal of "more ammo" but until they get pricing down to something much better, I'll stay off the 9mm bandwagon.

I left there and went to Wally World across the street and they had about 40 boxes of 325 round Federal Automatch. 3 box maximum and priced at about 5.3 cents a round. So, even though I bought some the other day, I went ahead and bought 3 more boxes.

I think my son-in-law is converting one of his AR-15's to .22 with a conversion kit so he plans to start shooting more .22 soon too. So we can't probably have too much .22.

Wish my local Wally worlds would get some. Haven’t seen any ammo there in several months. I used to shoot that Federal auto match all the time because it was cheap and readily available at Walmart

This is the second time in 2 weeks that they have had it. Today they had quite a bit of it and the guy says they are getting some pretty much every week now. So, I have been able to get about 3000 rounds in the last 3 weeks at about a nickel a shot. Should be enough to keep me in target shooting for a while.

Unfortunately they don't even carry 9mm anymore at all, so I guess I'll have to wait for that to get back in line somewhere else.
