Really; have you actually seen a bunch of sellers trying to sell ammo on Gunbroker at 10X the price - as in the price for which they purchased it? I have seen some folks asking for maybe 1.5 to 2 times the amount at which I have seen ammo available at Academy but have not seen anyone asking 10 times the amount. Not saying they are not out there but that kind of [pricing seems out of this world. Then again, while there are some who set a fixed price on GunBroker, most offerings I have seen are auctions where the buyuers wind up setting the final purchase price.

If someone was actually trying to sell ammunition at 10X the price (whatever you mean by that and I can only assume you mean 10X the going retail price or the going wholesale price) why would you think they would get stuck with it. They could always recoup their initial outlay by lowering their prices to what they paid for it or they could shoot it up.

Are you a socialist or do you support socialism in opposition to the free market system? Or is it you just want something to remain within certain status limitations that are satisfying to you - and only then will you consider it okay - but if it goes outside of your expectations you then consider it as as being wrong because it does not please you? With all due respect, in my opinion, that is truly the liberal way of thinking about everything - wishing bad onto someone who does things differently than the way you think they should be done. It is anti free market, anti free liberty and pro-control of others with whom you do not agree ; all that besides just being a negative and nasty thought on your part.

It looks like ammo is a lot easier to find now at Academy, to the point you can go in the evening and find the popular sizes. just the prices have gone up significantly. So the question is will prices ever return to "normal" or are these new prices the new "normal"?

My Academy friend told me starting on July 1st no limit on ammo anymore at stores in Texas and other locations. Hopefully prices go down

    Gunz are icky.
Thru all this the local neckbeard troop has been very active.
Especially at the Wal-Mart. They wipe it out daily.
Academy, to their credit, has blunted that shit with the 2 box minimum.
I hope academy doesn’t drop the limit. Increasing it another box or two would be okay.

Another difficult thing is waiting to buy, hoping for prices to return to "normal" THEN you realize prices went up even more. Then you wish you had stocked up. I remember my friend gave me so much shit when 9mm prices first jumped to 21 cents per round when the pandemic began and I was still buying it. Basically calling me stupid for paying so much.... Now I think we can all agree 21 cents per round would be great.

I don’t order from Federal’s site now that more ammo is sitting on the shelves for longer than 1 hour after Academy or Scheels opens, but for the past three days running, and even as I type this, Federal has 9mm, .380, .38, 40, 45, 10… just to name a few in stock and ready to order. So it‘s coming back.

Being the grumpy old man I am, I find it a bit distasteful that Federal finally has all this and more available for purchase only a week or two after they bumped their prices up $2-3 a box across the board but fingers crossed, with a major manufacturer like Federal offering multiple popular calibers and having them in stock for days, hopefully prices will at least stabilize all around, the neckbeards lining up outside Academy at 7am will crawl back to their mother’s basement, and we can all get back to an afternoon of killing paper for less than the cost of a new kidney.

It's been an interesting couple of years for the ammo market. I don't hate on anyone flipping old ammo stores to make a buck. It urked me for a while when I saw academy ammo selling at double the cost on txguntrader. So I joined the club. I only waited in the morning line up a handful of times and it paid off for the most part.

I got plenty of hate for it but it's all water off a ducks back. For the members I've known here for years, I can't think of one who felt gouged or ripped off. Now that prices have leveled albeit high, there's a good surplus lying around. The winchester m855 is there all day at 13.99/box and the monarch steel 9 is now as much as the brass is.

At this point I encourage y'all to be patient if you can. The academy increases are the will of the producers, not the store. Give it a couple more months and it should start trending back down. In the meantime, if anyone is in the Austin area and in need, I'm happy to dig through the stash and offer my bottom dollar. My pricing now is based more on future replacement cost and in a few instances I'm cheaper than they are.

I agree. Biden isn’t done trying to strip the 2A, hell, he’s barely getting started. Panic buying will ensure that we don’t have normal supply/prices until either he’s out of office (and is replaced by a 2A friendly Republican) or we get some crucial victories in the House/Senate to alleviate immediate fears. I too see it trending down. Hell, most of the online retailers have powder daily. It sold in seconds before.
Also, if you browse in the right places, decent priced ammo can be found.
Every timeI am walking into an Academy store I see ammo on the shelves. I remember the long lines last year. Not anymore.

    I'm not seeing "better" prices.
What I'm seeing is slightly better inventories.
.22LR has most certainly increased in price.
9mm is getting too expensive to play with.
Other calibers such as .38 Special, .357 mag, .44 mag, etc. are still pretty much unobtainium.
I saw a box of .38 Special at a LGS a few days ago for $72.00 for fifty round box. Plain old 158grn lead bullet ammo, not premium HP stuff either. F that!

I was at the Academy in San Marcos yesterday morning and they had a lot of ammo in stock. The only odd thing about it is that it's behind the gun counter. Still a 2 box limit too.
