Bought a pack of large rifle primers, so I had a good excuse to size, decap, and trim, 100 pieces of 6.5 CM, and throw them in the tumbler.

I have plenty of pistol primers. It’s the large rifle that I got caught without when the country lost its mind!

Ordered $300 worth of stuff from giraud that I bitched and moaned about until I just trimmed, chamfered and debured 50 pieces of brass in 5 min then I remembered why that machine is worth every penny.

I gotta get one of those machines that does it all. Doing everything by hand, one at a time, is killing me!

Loaded up some 190 Grain Hornady Sub-X's on top of 8 grains of Lilgun. No idea whether or not they'll run unsuppressed or otherwise but I only loaded 10 to try. We'll see.

It's absolutely worth it. I'd say it's the best money spent period if you load a lot of bottle neck rounds.

Not a ton so far, but I’m hoping to shoot the 6.5 a lot more. I just decapped and resized 100 cases. Now I’m in the process of trimming, chamfering, and de-burring. After about 25 or so, my hands are wrecked! I’m such a cheap-skate, but I don’t think I can put off getting it if I’m gonna be doing 100 rounds at a time.

A cheap out is the Lee trimmer that chucks into your drill. I put it in my cordless drill and wear a rubber palmed glove on the hand that holds the trimmer.

That’s what I use. It’s just the repetition of doing that 100 times (putting the case into the shell holder and tightening it down) plus holding the chamfer/de-burring “tool” on every case has my hands throbbing. My kids would call this “first world problems”!

I use one of these threaded into a Frankford arsenal case prep center. I don't have the FA prep center with their cutter on it, I only have the cheap 4 station one. The other three stations are chamfer, debur, and pocket cleaning or uniforming.

Then I use a pair of vice grips to hold the shell holder it makes it much easier to hold the shell holder over the spinning blades of death and the weight of the giant vice grips helps out pressure on the case being trimmed.

I cheaped out and got the Dewalt powered Giraud and love it but I only trim 556 brass. It was $100 + shipping & tax.

If you have lots of rifle cals then I’d look into the powered version; there are cal specific inserts available.

I'm also.a big fan of the worlds cheapest trimmer for high volume stuff like 223 where I'm doing 1000 cases at a time. They might not be the most accurate but they work fine for plinking ammo.

The prep center is what I need to get for sure. May go order it now while my hands are hurting. If I wait, I’ll cheap out, then complain again when I have to prep the next 100!
