Hello, thanks for the question. I don't believe anyone is saying you CAN'T carry a weapon, open or concealed. All Texas is saying is that you need to demonstrate you are proficient in the use of a firearm, know Texas carry laws and that you are not a criminal (Background Check). I will go one further. If you do have a carry license, then I believe you should be allowed to carry everyplace in Texas, schools, sporting events etc. So, yes, I am pro 2nd amendment.
Where in the second amendment does it say someone needs to meet training requirements to keep and bear arms? That's like saying oh you need to do this and that then I will allow you to have your right of the 2nd amendment to keep and bear arms. "THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE".... All people!!! to keep and bear! Shall NOT be infringed clear as day!!

I am opposed to HB 1927.. WHY ? I am a retired Air Force Officer and know how important training and proficiency is. I am a conservative Republican, possess a Texas Carry Permit and am pro 2nd amendment. We do not allow someone to drive a car until they have shown proficiency in driving skills and understanding traffic law... In my opinion, the same should apply to concealed or open carry. You need to show proficiency and know the law. My question for constitutional carry is this,,, If carrying a firearm is important to you, then why would you not spend a few hours taking the class, going through a background check and showing you are proficient in the use of a firearm ? I renewed my carry permit 3 months ago and it took all of 10 minutes via the internet. My thought is, invest the time, take the class and get a permit. After that it is easy to renew once every five years.. Lets face it, there are a lot of people who have no business carrying a firearm and the permit process helps weed them out.

Like most 0 level folks, couldn't pour piss out of a boot with the instructions written on the heel. They would have to ask an NCO.

Now seriously. Figure out the difference from a Right and a Privilege. A privilege is granted by the government to allow you to do something and they CAN require proficiency. A Right is granted by God and he doesn't require anything.

    Here
We were assured of support by certain politicians that wasn't forthcoming. Figured it was time to call out the hounds, since they seem to need the impetus.....

I'm not one to name names...but a certain Lt Governor is claiming there aren't enough votes to pass CC...it's time to light up the phone lines to HIS and YOUR senator. Be polite, but make your position known.

Besides the Lt. Governor, who are the other politicians that promised their support for CC that are not supporting it?

ABSOLUTE bullshit. THAT is a fact, my friend. BOTH have been working hard to get this bill through.

That is truly good news. If they keep that up in a clear and visible manner they might earn some dollars and support from me and I suspect quite a few others.

I WILL state unequivocally that Tara (TSRA NRA Lobbyist) has been busting her ass in Austin. You wanna get Wayne, elect ANYONE but incumbent NRA board members - that's the only real way.

Sorry, folks - long day...Tara is the NRA lobbyist, and she's been working hard for gun owners in this session, including helping the new TSRA lobbyist Andi hit the ground running!!

I've been using their system for quite some time. Do you REALLY think that makes me a bigger target than testifying at the state capitol, having a Palmetto State Armory sticker on my pickup, going to a gun range, or discussing my 2A rights on a forum? For a bunch of gun owners allegedly capable of self-defense, you're a special kind of paranoid of a bunch of emotional moms and an automated calling system intended to direct calls where THEY are trying to apply pressure.
Part of the whole point is if 5000 gun owners started using their system and running up their bills a bit, it might force them to work harder and simultaneously reconsider their automated system which is making it very easy and effective for their members to make a ton of calls in a hurry, while you sit and look all the numbers up. I betcha each of those moms is making 10x the calls each member here is making.

I'm not sure why you quoted me.

I never said anything about using the number would make you or anyone a "bigger target" in any way. I simply stated there is technology/services out there that would mask any PII in response to lightflyer stating that one may be giving such detail away by using their actual info while using the number you provided.

I completely understood your point about using the number against the Mom's intended purpose and stated nothing in the way of being for or against using it as you described.

I tell the NRA every time they call. As long as Pepe LaPue is in charge my wallet is closed to them.

And I do blame Abbott for his lack of ANY sort of support for CC. If this is helpgul to his democrap rivals, so be it. I'm so tired of voting for the lessor of evil self serving people. I want it all in one package.

I call BS to thread title.

I personally called the offices of all 18 Texas Republican Senators. All but 3 are fully supporting HB1927.

Three republican Senators are on the fence. None of these three have voiced any opposition to HB1927.

All we need is ONE of those three to commit and we will get the votes we need.

    So call these three Senators.

    Sen Paul Bettencourt. 512-463-0107

    Sen Joan Huffman. 512-463-0117

    Sen Ken Seliger. 512-463-0131
