167 On the road!Heh! When I was in army boot camp in the 60s, a watch was not necessary. There was always a screaming drill sergeant keeping us informed and on time, etc.
When I was in Navy boot camp in the 60's you could not have worn a watch or any other jewelry. If you showed up with that stuff, it would be packaged up and sent back home with your new electric razor, portable radio and anything else that you brought with you. You were not going to need that electric razor, they gave you all you were going to need to shave or any other "personal" items you were going to need.167 On the road!

Got a cake in the mail in boot camp ? Must have been a different boot camp than I went to.One of the guys in my platoon got a cake in the mail. Poor bastard!
You would have had to have been there. MCRD in 1966 was alot about pain and punishment, not like squid bootcamp.Got a cake in the mail in boot camp ? Must have been a different boot camp than I went to.
We always liked when the MC boots got out and made it to he EM club the first night. 4 or 5 of them always thought they could take on the entire place and usually ended up regretting it. They always could convince those guys they were tough, and they had to be retrained. You would have had to have been there. MCRD in 1966 was alot about pain and punishment, not like squid bootcamp.
Sailors are curious creatures. In 1967 aboard the Tripoli the captain had to issue an order barring sailors not involved in medi-evac operations from the flight deck because there were so many gawkers it was impossible to get wounded Marines to sick bay. I think I have a copy in my files. I'll look.We always liked when the MC boots got out and made it to he EM club the first night. 4 or 5 of them always thought they could take on the entire place and usually ended up regretting it.
