I thought they'd been there since the late '90s.
So Houston might get worse? Damn.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is moving its headquarters to Spring. (In 2015, Hewlett-Packard Company split into Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc.) HP Inc. already has its largest US facility (about 2200 people) in Spring. Most of them moved from the old Compaq campus.

HP has been here since they bought Compaq and took over its Houston campus. The company split in November of 2015 into HP inc and HP Enterprise (HPE).

HP Enterprise is the one moving it’s HQ here to Houston. It’s largest hub where it had the most employees was already the Houston location. Moving is completely voluntary for employees living in California and they will hire more people in Houston where needed.

The new building that HPE was already building in Spring (close to where HP Inc moved its Houston location to to a few years ago) to replace the aging Compaq campus is where the new HPE HQ will be.

With recent changes in policy regarding working remote, many employees will be able to work remotely, and won’t need to actually come in to a physical office space. That way they can stay working from California. As a matter of fact, they’re still maintaining the Cali location, and I think for now it’s mainly just the CEO and some executives that will be moving here between now and when the new campus opens up in Spring in 2022.

So pretty much everything MikeyJ said but with added unnecessary details

So essentially this is just their super high earners fleeing for a more tax friendly state.

This is the scary way the liberals get into our state. The company moves here cuz Abbott tells them how great it is. then the employees follow along for the job. They are not leaving the commies, they bring all that shit with them. This is why Austin is SF lite, all the high tech folks moved here to help start up the companies.
