Just curious how many of you have obtained LTC’s from other states for the purpose of redundancy, as well as for coverage and reciprocity from states that don’t honor Texas.

I have a Utah, to cover Washington state.

I have an Illinois, to cover for Illinois, and Minnesota.

I have a Arizona, Florida and New Hampshire for redundancy.

I have a Maine, because while Maine is a constitutional carry state, a LTC is required to carry in a National Park, or State Park of Maine.

I have a Connecticut, to cover that state.

Which leaves the following states that I can’t currently carry.

California, Oregon, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, & Massachusetts. As well as I can’t carry in Washington DC or NYC. (Oregon I can Open carry, barring a few cities, but can’t conceal carry)

I considered getting one for Washington DC, however the hassle isn’t worth the benefit for the small area that I could carry, and for the length of time I would be there.

I am thinking about getting one for RI. Although it will require a trip and a stop, so don’t know if it’s worth the effort yet. Especially since RI is such a small state, and not as much to do.

If the 6+ court cases against NJ, NY/NYC, MD, CA, and HI win, then I might consider LTC’s from those states as well. It all depends on the outcome of those cases. The outcome of the cases could also cause those states to start having some form of reciprocity with other states as well. We shall see. Reciprocity would be much nicer then going through any application process.

I also have an IL CCL from when my daughter lived there. Unfortunately, she moved to NJ, so I don't visit much anymore. I will not renew IL when it expires, too expensive and too hard to get a renewal class.

Mine's out of Arizona. It was cheap and took the least amount of hassle to get. I just renewed it earlier this year.
    Winner.

I have had an AZ ccw since the 90s, even though I didn't need it to carry concealed I got it cause of other issues. I kept it when I moved here a decade ago.

It's cheaper and easier to renew than the hassle of Texas ccw. So I keep it.

My renewal was just over 7 days mail box to mail box. It was only 10 days last time

I think that my VA license is still valid but it's at "the mountain lair" in my bedroom/chest of drawers up there.
    (I have a TX license.)

I got my first carry permit in Virginia in 1994. At that time it was up to the sheriff in your county to approve or reject the permit. I had a good 2A friendly sheriff. At that time, Oliver North was denied a permit because his county's sheriff didn't think he needed one.

    Geezer,

I got my original VA CCW license in Brunswick County, VA in 1978. - At that time, "you had to know somebody" to get a carry license.
(I was dating the County Clerk at the time & she talked to the Judge for me. = He said, "OK". - IF I remember correctly, I paid NOTHING & didn't have to fill out any paperwork, qualify with a handgun or anything else to get the license.)
FWIW, I was also (at one time) "sworn in" in VA as a "SPECIAL CONSERVATOR of the Peace", i.e., a civilian with all the powers of a police officer, except that a "SPECIAL" is NOT allowed to "work traffic"/issue traffic tickets.

"MAY ISSUE" states tend to be that way, i.e., NOT what you know but WHO you know - MD for one.

I can't carry on body in Texas, as no TDL or LTC yet, still have my Oregon CHL and DL (ug) - I might write the sheriff in my former home county to see if I can convert my resident CHL to a non-resident. Oregon has no reciprocity agreements, so on the very slim chance I ever set foot in that state again, I'd like to be able to carry.

Sadly, Virginia is not the Virginia that we used to know.

    Geezer,

IF you mean VA as a "voting" whole, I would agree. - Otoh, IF you mean the REAL Virginia, which starts south of Prince William County & west of Arlington County & omits the city of Alexandria, Fairfax County, Arlington County & the city of Richmond, VA is STILL a GREAT place.

Fwiw, when I last lived in VA there was some at least HALF-serious talk about DIVORCING those leftist controlled areas of the State & suggesting that they go join DC.

I have one from PA I got when I was 21. The county Sheriff had to sign off on. I have no Idea if it is still Valid or not doubtful. It is one part of a triplicate form I filled out that was signed and embosed.

I have a (now expired) WA license. I keep it because I like the signature on it. Looping scrawl that is almost art.
Plan to go to Apache Rifleworks and get that TX LTC soon...

Besides Texas, I have Utah. If I lose my wallet, I don't have to wait on the mail till I can carry again.
