For one family that lives near Wichita Falls I allow them to hunt deer on my property, must be good to the land, maintain their own feeder, not shoot quail, preferably teach their children to shoot. My only request is that they let me know when they are going before they go so we don't shoot each other. this is not a lease but free use. I have 89 acres. Hogs too. I have no livestock. You can contact me if you are interested. I don't want more than one family. I do not shoot deer. I might shoot hogs. I know how difficult it is for hunters to find a place which is why I open mine up to the right person.

A local person has taken me up on my offer. Good luck all you hunters.

Thought about a doe, but you have to immediately report each doe harvest here so screw it. Instead I sank an arrow into a huge boar. “He’s dead, Jim!” I’ll shoot the doe up in the Hill Country.

Haven't even looked at the game cam pics yet... But I'll be in the tripod this weekend all the same. So damn warm I don't have high expectations. Certain I'll enjoy a few beers, time with old friends and nature all the same.

He got one. TPWD aged it at 4 years.

    FYI, the rut is on.

" Well nothing to show for my first trip out this year. " Same here. Nice 8 point on game camera, but didn't see him all weekend. Plenty of hogs and doe, that I passed on. Going back on the 20th. Won't pass up on hog meat, that trip.

Some of my backyard girls. The feeders been dead about 6 months, a cow knocked the motor off so I give them a coffee can full of corn to keep them happy. I've counted up to 16 hanging out behind the house. The only bucks that come in are little tiny youngens. I've been getting pictures of a Big Bruiser way back in some really thick ceders traveling along a wash. I think I'll catch a nice cool wet day to sneak in and set for while to see if he wonders by.

I dropped my tools and got into my car to go and at least see it in person not just on the trail cam.

Wish I had a camera with me this morning. Taking the little one to school, and see a buck about 100 yards off the road. Pulled over and put some glass on him, the coolest non-typical I've seen. Couldn't count points, but here were a lot! His right side was about 20" tall and the left about 10-12" tall. Looked palmed in portions and trash just going everywhere. Hope to see him tonight and get a photo. The one with the cell phone doesn't show anything.

Well fellas, it's that time of year again where we fill up our freezers with organically raised, free range meat. :p

I just finished getting my rifle sighted in. I'm taking my old Husqvarna 9.3x57mm this year and some 285gr cast bullet loads for it. I love that thing. It's light, handy, and packs a punch. I've never taken a deer with a home cast bullet before, so I'm excited to do that. I'm hoping for a buck and a doe this year. I'm hungry for some chili!

You guys ready to do some hunting?
