    Maverick44,

    I contacted Accurate by email.
(He is deaf & doesn't use the phone.)

YES, he will make a 5-cavity mold in Aluminum for 143.oo plus S&H & in Iron for about 180.oo plus S&H.

    Approximately 3 week turnaround.

    THANKS for the info, satx

Cast up a small pile of bullets last night and this morning. Started casting 9s again and remembered my mold is kinda effed uo. Gonna contact Lee about it and see what they say. I think a new sprue plate and shaving a fuzz off the top of the blocks would fix the problems.

I was trying to get out and test some yesterday. My wife had her LTC class though and thought she would be done by 2, leaving plenty of range time. She didn't get out until after 6 so no go yesterday. Next Saturday will probably be a no go for the range as well since it's the 4th.

I just ordered a Dillon 550C, 9mm Dillon dies, and the 9mm conversion kit. Excited to get into progressive reloading :) I also plan to load precision 6.5 Creedmoor for my Bergara B-14, can't wait!

90% of the fun of reloading is developing test loads for each of your rifles. I have a journal spanning 12 years of pet loads. I envy you.
I love load development, but honestly, I get almost as much satisfaction watching the merry go round that is the 1050 shell plate in action.

Washed some 243, 7-08, 308, together with some 450bm and 460s&w. Too many similar calibers to sort out. What a pain.

Finished priming up the 450 and 460s. Now I'm sorting headstamps for the 243. Going to prime them up a d then work up some test loads for the wife's rifle.

I won a raffle for a chassis for my 7-08. Can't wait to get it going and get some more rounds loaded up for that one.

Also won a raffle for an ar-10 kit so I'm gonna have to load up some 308s for that test as well... So much testing, so little free time.

Trimmed a pile of .357 brass that was way too long. This actually went smoothly which was a nice change compared to my recent reloading adventures!

Midway order comes tomorrow. I should be able to load up some .357 Mag test batches.

How are you trimming your brass? The last time I messed with the trimmer was for .357 brass on the RCBS with a drill chucked up. Sprays golden mist pretty well.

I loaded a couple hundred of my own cast/coated 9s. About halfway through I got the adjustments right with very few failing the plunk test. Then I remembered I had a shockbottle so I began to use that. Most passed that so I set the fails to the side.

I'm planning a range trip in the morning so I wanted to be ready and I boxed the winners up. These will fit in my LWD barrel for my g17. The fails were too long/wide.

For laughs I ran them through the sizing die(sans decapping rod)that I started with.
all but two plunked great, so 22ish will see action tomorrow!

Any thoughts on what I did: ending with the beginning die? I decap before cleaning my brass AND I have an extra sizing die so that's my next plan.

Lyman Universal Trimmer. Took a little work to dial in and get the technique down but it's running pretty well.

    Got my Midway order.

I reamed some tight primer pockets on the .357 brass tonight and tumbled a big batch of 9mm. I'm glad primer pocket reaming is a one time thing because that sucks!

Sounds like a more extreme version of running them through a Lee Factory Crimp Die.

My concern is that you might have swaged your bullets down too much. Did you check their diameter after doing so? What about OAL?

I bought a bunch of 9mm brass that has crimped primers. I just use the Lee primer pocket reamer I got with my anniversary kit when I started loading in the 90s.

Side note: I came across a case(9mm)whose primer pocket was too lose to hold a primer. Norinco from the 90s; 92 I believe.

Ordered the Frankford arsenal pile driver bullet puller today. Another freebie from the gas rebate app.

Kinda eager to test that thing out. I have some rounds with a heavy crimp and the whack-it type bullet puller is taking me 5-7 hits to pop them apart. I'm hoping the FA puller will do better than that. I'll post how it goes when it gets here.

100% on point, you are swaging your bullets doing this. The Lee FCD is setup for the SAAMI max OD, the sizing dies are well below that. They will be about 373 versus 381 at the mouth, huge difference.

If you have to run your ammo through an FCD you have an issue you should solve. If you have to run it through a sizing die you have a bigger issue to solve. Post sizing can be useful in some situations but if you have to post size to get your ammo to gage, you have a problem in your loading setup. FCDs usually mask poor setup.

What would you say are the most likely culprits? Troubleshooting is still something I'm trying to get a grasp on.

In my experience, it is almost always a sizing issue. Either at the base or the mouth coming from incorrect die setup or expansion. Take some measurements with your calipers and you can quickly narrow it down. We process so many different headstamps, we've seen it all, it is all about tolerances.

Thanks Deavis! I was wondering what to shoot today but I guess it will be 9mm.

I expect I'll be spending some time in the reloading shed after I swap blades on the mower and change the oil and mow.
