    Mornin!.... Coffee!

Morning y'all. Another not so good. It seems the tube they put in to drain the air is no longer working so they are going to put in another bigger one. Departure date pushed back to Mon....
So you're the spike in Covid cases! Just kidding, but wouldn't doubt if that's what they have you down as when all's said and done. Get better man!

Wife came into my office about an hour ago.

"One of the AC drains outside of the house is dripping."

    Shit.

Figured I'd see if I can diagnose this. Went into the attic to take a peek. One of the air handlers has a bunch of condensation on top and water running down the side to the emergency drip pan. Some water in the pan. No bueno.

Checked the drain line at the T-access. Yep, it's clogged. The AC condensation line drains to one of the upstairs bathrooms so I get my tools, shop vac and a metric tonne of towels.

The drain line comes out of the wall and is connected with a rubber hose to a one-way T-connector at the sink drain before the P-trap. Had a bitch of a time getting the rubber hose off but finally got it. Water comes pouring out. The T-connector where the hose connects is completely blocked with sediment and Lord knows what else.

Put the shop vac on the hose and hear a nice, satisfying sucking sound. Clog is cleared.

Checked the attic and the line looks clear. Sent a bleach mixture down the tube to hopefully head it off again. With my luck that wasn't the problem.

What a PITA but hey....I fixed something myself and saved some money....maybe.

Good job, and good catch on the wife’s part. Sounds like the installation worked as designed.

No maybe about it ... replaced dozens of drywall walls and ceilings from clogged AC drains down through the years. Usually an expensive mess.

In the houses I built always threatened to put the exterior drain pipe from the evaporator coil pan over the front door so it would hit the owner on the head in time to do something about it.

Ours is in a pretty good place. It drips from the second story onto the top of a small bay window. You can hear the drip hitting the roof shingles over the window.

Fortunately there is a very substantial drip pan under each air handler so there's a measure of safety. Still seems to be some condensation forming on the top of the handler which I don't like. The drain does appear to be draining though and I don't see any more drips from the emergency line.

May have someone come out and do the AC service anyway since we haven't had it done yet this year.
