This debacle reminds me of a funny story from many years back about a guy who had worked hard, made his fortune, and purchased a Rolls Royce.
Turned out the RR was a turd that broke down and left the guy stranded. Once on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco. He said as people drove by him honking horns and flipping him off from old beater cars as he stood beside his broken down RR maybe they really were smarter.
You mean like a Rolex that doesn't keep accurate time? Not sure the full extent of it but I know that was a thing.

This. I buy a gun to shoot. The new Marlin I am picking up today will be shot. A lot. I will put enough rounds through it before I ever put the crosshairs on an animal to be 100% certain it will perform as expected.

If I was in charge of QC for a pistol hitting the market at $1500+, I would have 55 gallon drums of the ammo it takes and have these guns( randomly selected from various model runs) shot until they failed, then determine what caused the failure.
Guns were made to shoot. Several years ago, I met my good friend for the first time. After we got to know and have trust in each other, we showed each other some of our prized guns. He has much nicer stuff than me.

For his 60th birthday be bought himself a Colt SAA, 45 Colt (of course), 4 inch barrel, ivory grips, nickel finish with full engraving and fire blued screws. He handed it to me and the first thing that I noticed was the front of the cylinder was black. He shot this thing! I knew right then that we would become good friends. I shot the gun later that day and have several times since.

Now, he is waiting on a Browning Hi Power Renaissance to be delivered. He won it on GB for $3700. It will be shot within minutes of it's arrival. I can't wait to shoot it, too.

    Colt’s statement from SHOT show.

sorry about NRA link, but that is where the video is.

    For those who understandably don’t want to give the NRA a click, this is the gist of Colt’s statement;

After watching this video I am convinced that Mark O’keefe had just received word prior to filming that the $100,000 donation check from Colt had just cleared the bank.

A few of my revolvers won't fire and kind of lock up until the trigger is fully reset. I think it's pretty normal for most guns honestly.

This comment is not aimed toward any videos or testing. More just a general observation.

    That’s fine.

The problem with the Python seems to be that doing what you describe actually breaks a $1500 gun.

Sadly this isn't the first time Colt bungled everything up. Want to know why the HK is called the SOCOM handgun and not Colt? Because HK won the competition by default when the Colt entry broke during the trials and couldn't be repaired.

They better be working 24-7 to get this bullcrap resolved.

Any updates on the 2020 Python lack of quality?

I've been coveting Pythons forever. Finally in a position to actually purchase one I was overjoyed to learn there was a new design which was advertised to be a better design yet less expensive than the pre-1995 Pythons... until I heard this disappointing poor quality news on the new 2020 design.

I'm a new member here. I sure appreciate the existance of this forum and this is my first post. Howdy yall!

I finally got mine. A 4.25" barrel model. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet with all the Corona in the breeze. But first thing I checked was to make sure the muzzle crown wasn't all gnawed up and tried dry firing a bit to see if the cylinder would turn freely.

Didn't notice any glaring issues, I think Colt might be test firing more as part of QC because the cylinder was somewhat filthy inside. .38 specials would meet some resistance sliding in until I gave the new gun a cleaning and oiling. The patch came out black as crud.

I don't mind more test firing if it means they'll catch issues at the factory.

I've been watching the Gun Broker auctions and observing the 2020 Pythons selling in the range of $1725 to $2425, and about $300 more for the 6" barrel.
Without any gun shows going on, does anyone know who is selling the new Pythons closer to the wholesale price?

I paid MSRP from GT Distributors but that was over 6 months ago.

Might be worth calling to ask but you'll prolly have to wait for it to show up. Supply can't meet the crazy demand right now.

Just noticed you're in SA otherwise I would have suggested Scheels, just north of Dallas. Was there last weekend and they had the 4" SS Python for $1,499.99. But that's a long way to drive.

I think I got over-excited when I realized that my long sought after Python was within reach with the new 2020 model having a reasonable price tag. But thanks to y'all educating me, I'm coming around to maybe the more important question, especially to those here who may have a new 2020 Python AND a pre-1995 or custom shop model:
The 2020 Python being about $2000, are the earlier models' quality and performance worth the extra $1000 or more?
And, maybe just as importantly, will the 2020 model hold or increase its value lime the earlier models?

That's a good price. No markup from suggested retail.
