    Gunz are icky.
    My Ruger tale of svck:
Bought a brand new Ruger Vaquero in .45LC. Shiny Stainless with white grip. Pretty thing. Factory new. Even had the yellow plastic chamber cover still in it.
I take it from the shop to the house.
I start cleaning the thing only to notice the chambers don’t look right. They’re too small. So I go to insert some .45LC snap caps to check. The snap caps don’t fit. WTF?!?!? Further snap cap checking determines the cylinder is chambered in .44magnum. Barrel and frame plainly marked .45cal. Fluck me.
Took the gun back to the dealer to show him. He called Ruger right then. Ruger demanded it back RFN. LoL.
Sent it back. Took them 6 flipping months to get me a replacement.

Man...seems to be the trend. I got lucky with my ranch American in 223. Feeds smooth and groups nice. Not so lucky with a few other guns.

My mpr is a bit special. I believe I mentioned that to you. As far as your handguard and grip, just gotta check stuff and make sure it’s torqued to spec.

my American in 22-250 is waiting on a Bell and Carlson stock. The bedding in the factory stock was jacked up.

so far so good with my pc9.

Other Ruger guns that gave me issues: sp101. The barrel was canted. Magazine for my American in 22 mag. Replaced for free. Unexpectedly the sr22 I had took a dump on me. Every round cycled. No issues. I thought I had a gem. Funny story I almost had a trade with sql geek and though it didn’t happen I was out a few months later shooting the sr22 and first round that day it stopped cycling. I was shocked. Also glad sql didn’t get stuck with it. First thing that went threw my head. Lol glad he didn’t get this.

Ruger is definitely having qc issues.

I have a ranch/target in 223, also, and haven't had any issues with it either. The serial number starts with 580.... I've heard that some Ruger Mini 14's, that start with a different serial number have had issues.

Do you know if they charge shipping to and from? I usually just end up fixing their mistakes on my own but this is beyond my expertise
On a brand new gun, Ruger paid for shipping both ways for me. And threw in some extra mags when they returned it. Worked perfect when it came back a week later.

Like yourself, I usually just corrected the problems myself, but most of my Rugers were much older, so probably out of the warranty period.

Contact Ruger's CS Monday and see what it takes to get it fixed. Not 100% sure, but I THINK they will pay shipping both ways. A member on another forum a few years said they did for him.
Ruger is lifetime warranty regardless of being the original owner.

    oldag,

Of course, but having to consistently use it, what a pia.

QC is apparently too much for them.

I wonder what percentage of 'lemons' they produce that owners have simply given up on, put in a drawer and vow never Ruger, never again...?

I don't know. Overall, I have had great experience with Ruger firearms.

    Springfield, not so much.

There's something about those lightweight .22s I don't trust. Cheap metal breaks too easily.

@Moonpie 6 months? Good grief. They should have sent you a new one immediately.

Rugers are the dominant species in my safe. Have never had an issue with any of them other than wearing out small parts that will wear out after tens of thousands of rounds.

oh, and a 10/22 barrel that only lasted a little over 300,000 rounds that I had to replace. ;)

Overall I’ve had pretty good luck with Ruger.
    Owned many over the years.
One that did give me trouble was the first issue of the LC-9. After a few hundred rounds it was mid-firing 50% of the time.
Sent it back. Returned working 100%.
Nothing major but a big p.i.t.a.
Once had a .30-06 M77 that was horribly inaccurate. I’ve since learned this was not uncommon with M77’s.

A lifetime warranty is a wonderful thing.

But, I'd rather have a gun that works properly out of the box without a lifetime warranty....
Even out of the box good guns break... I'll take a mediocre gun that can be made reliable, with a lifetime warranty over a "nice" gun without one. Horses for courses I suppose...

One thing we as a gun community are is pretty “type A” when it comes to our expectations of accuracy.

Most Rugers are not tack driving one hole guns, but rather tanks that run forever that deliver “minute of dead deer” accuracy out of the box that most rifle owners expect.

Bought and sold and given many a Ruger over the years. Never ever had a single problem. Had an original PC 9 Carbine that had over 100,000 rounds thru her. One of my LEO sons has it now. Still runs perfect. Have a new PC 9 and it has not missed a beat yet. P95, SR 9c, LC9, SR22 with a can, LCP, LCP2, SR 1911 Light Weight Commander, all run perfectly. Luck of the draw I guess.

You pay shipping to them. They pay it back to you.

I only had one issue with Ruger. I bought a box of stuff at an estate sale. It had this POS pistol in the box. Ruger replaced it at no charge.

They replaced that? Damn, say what you will about their quality control, but their customer service seems to be top notch.
