As a Texan-to-be I was rather appalled at Abbott's statements. He basically came out and said "**** your freedom, do as I say" and pointed the counties in a direction of enforced compliance by targeting the businesses themselves. They won't try the shenanigans against regular people this time - they're just going to yank occupancy licenses, professional licenses, and levy fines against the business if they don't enforce the stupid mask policy among their customers. The Karen brigades will be out in force, phones in hand, taking pictures and calling the tip lines.

I would expect that kind of shit to come out of our governor here in Oregon - she's a as inept, corrupt, and vile as they come. I'll certainly be voting in the next primary he's up in, and will be voting for a better candidate. He has done some good things for ya'll, but of late his brain has melted from COVID hysteria. Either someone has dirt on him, or someone is offering him a pile of cash.

Maybe Ted Cruz will retire from the senate and run for governor? Or what about Jonathan Strickland? I've been trying to study up a bit on Texas politics, Strickland authored a constitutional carry bill that was killed because the leader of the house refused to allow a hearing, if I remember right. Something about him getting his panties in a knot because a supporter of the bill was canvassing his neighborhood passing out flyers?
Anti-business Abbott. Helping your local dictators punish and destroy businesses for not policing you for your own good.

Hospitals in Bexar, Dallas, Harris and Travis counties must halt nonessential procedures as of Saturday to make sure beds are available for coronavirus patients, under an executive order issued by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Thursday.

    No other restrictions. Yet.

Last I heard elective procedure recovery accounted for about half, and non-covid19 stuff was another 30%. But that could have changed.

    Here
I called and emailed Abbott's office again today urging him to stop promoting the corona hysteria.

I am sure that the leftists are contacting him and asking for him to restrict us even further and apparently he is listening to them.

We ALL need to call and email him voicing our opposition to his handling of this corona BS. The phone number to his office is: (800) 843-5789. It sometimes takes a while to get through on that number so here is another number that usually don't take as long to get through: (512) 463-1782.

Here is a link to send him an email.

These so called conservatives pull this crap because they know most will still vote for them because they are better than the alternative. I already was not going to vote for him. Now I might vote against him. If I do, it will be the first time I have ever voted for a democrat. They need to learn a lesson.

Why the hell won't Abbott come out and admit it's not "people congregating in bars" and it's the goddamned "protesters" who are responsible for the spike. It's not like it's people out in the rural areas getting the bug, I'll bet only a small portion of this increase come from people who patronized bars, went tubing on a river, or had family get togethers - its the fuckwits who were out looting, burning shit, and rioting in Dallas, Houston, SA, and Austin. More evidence that Abbott's brain is melting from COVID hysteria.

I'll be damned if I vote Democrat, for any office, but I will vote against him in the primary.
