I'll never forget the first time I tried frog's legs. Summer of 1987, on vacation in southern Louisiana with Wife #1. We had stopped over in New Iberia for the evening, and found a nice restaurant to eat at. I had the large seafood platter, and it included frog legs, and blackened catfish, (which was another first for me as well.) I surely did fall in love with frog legs! And the blackened catfish....was absolutely one of the best ways to eat catfish!

Makes them taste even better. Live a little adventurously when it comes to what you eat. Then have a few stiff shots of something 90 proof or better. Speaking of which, I think it may be time for some Mellow Corn, picked up a bottle today, have not imbibed this stuff in a long time.

I'd try the Mellow Corn. Seems they missed an opportunity to call it Mellow Yellow.
What does "Bottled in Bond" mean? Maybe @toddnjoyce could explain; he seems to know about distilled products.

BiB is a statement that the contents comply with the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, which essentially states the contents came from one distiller, during one distillation season, and bottled/stored for at least four years in a warehouse bonded under the US Government.

The Act was the brainchild of my favorite O-6, Colonel E.H. Taylor. This guy bought OFC Distillery around the time of the Civil War and spent the next decade or so modernizing it with copper fermentation tanks and the such. To recoup his investment and justify the premium for his bourbon he got Congress to pass the law so he could put BiB on his product.

OFC was sold to George T Stagg at some point, which is now a Buffalo Trace distiller.

The BiB Act is still law today and the rise in popularity is marketing driven.

Thanks, Todd. I knew you'd have it covered.
And if it's done under "US Government Supervision", then you KNOW it has to be GOOD.

So it has to be AT LEAST 100 proof...
    Or EXACTLY 100 proof?

AND, if it's "corn whiskey", aren't we basically talking moonshine?
"Government-Sanctioned 'Shine" would be easier to understand than BiB, in that case.
Moonshine isn't typically aged either. Whiskey is aged, in charred barrels, which is part of the reason it isn't clear like moonshine.
