I don't understand this at all. The 6mmAR cartridge has been around for a long time with lots of development and match use. You can go to the website of the developer and buy uppers, accessories, everything.
This new 6mmARC is essentially identical. Why go to the trouble of introducing it? The market for people who really need a good 6mm based on the .220 Russian already knew about the 6mmAR. Does Hornady think people are going to buy their stuff just because it has their name on the box?
Maybe I'm just being snippy because in their YT videos, Hornady repeatedly boasts that they developed the cartridge. They most assuredly did not.

It is not the same as the 6mm AR. The 6mm AR is simply a 6.5G necked down to 6mm. The 6mm ARC has the shoulder moved back and a Slightly different R.
But besides any of that, Hornady took a cartridge to SAAMI and got approval. Robert Whitley could have done the same thing at any time.
Look at 300 whisper VS 300 blackout. Before AAC took it to SAAMI, it was just a rare niche round. Now damn near everyone has one.
I would too.
AR calibers are a tough market now. There are so many of them and the market is so saturated that most will fail. I will be interested to see how this does and how it actually stacks up against other AR long range rounds, not just 6mm ones. I doubt this will do much against the 6.5 Grendel, but it might cause the 224 Valkyrie to lose traction and possibly even cause it to be dropped altogether.
Just curious about why you think it may cause this?
So has it been fixed now? Who is the go to barrel maker for .224 V?The 224 Valkyrie had several issues with different barrel makers having/using different chamber reamers than what the actual cartridge was spec'd to. That caused many owner's a lot of problems, and everyone pointed fingers at someone else instead of admitting fault and fixing it.
