Pretty soon, there’ll be a push for them to do away with their ‘white hats’.......you watch & see!

Monument removal is just an attempt to erase and “sanitize” history. I predict it’ll ultimately backfire and some future generation will “correct” course. May not be in my lifetime but as the old saying goes, those that don’t know history, are doomed to repeat it!

I wonder if the persons who are removing these statues think that they will be remembered kindly in history. Or will they themselves become targeted after the others offensive groups are removed?

    First they came for the ….but I wasn't a...so I said nothing.
    Then they came for....but I wasn't a …..so I said nothing.
And then they came for.... but I wasn't a....so I said nothing.
And then they came for me....

Why is the discussion not happening before the removal. Sounds like redflag law type of tactics to me.

"Perry said the fate of the statue, which will go into storage for now, would eventually be decided by the city’s Office of Arts and Culture, which oversees public art in Dallas. Perry said the arts commission and the mayor’s office might also weigh in before the city reaches a decision"

This is such bullshirt! A quick search leads to:

An account of a boxing match, written by Bigelow Paine and published in Paine’s 1909 book Captain Bill McDonald: Texas Ranger, became the origin of the Ranger’s motto, “One Riot, One Ranger”.
The phrase was coined in 1896, by Ranger Captain William “Bill” McDonald in Dallas, where he had been sent to prevent the illegal heavyweight prize fight between Bob Fitzsimmons and Pete Maher. The story says the Mayor met McDonald’s trainer and asked where the other Rangers were. McDonald replied, “Hell, ain’t I enough? There’s only one prizefight!”

So this motto, and this statue represents a law enforcement agency, and just because todays "leaders," would not make a pimple on the ass of those that served, they have to clutch their pearls, twist their panties in a wad, and take down a statue.

I went to Dallas a couple of weeks ago, what a shame, drove in a circle about 15 miles around my hotel, and finally got back on a freeway to find a shopping center. Miles and miles of run down neighborhoods, that no one in their right mind would invest in. Watching the news, I understand now, and it will only get worse.

The Texas Rangers were part of some of the most important events of Texas history such as stopping the assassination of presidents William Howard Taft and criminal cases such as gunfighter John Wesley Hardin, bank robber Sam Bass, and the outlaws Bonnie and Clyde.

Why not just take the 'offending' ranger's name off the statue and dedicate it to all Texas Rangers? Its not like anyone would look at the statue and say, "Hey! Thats Robert the Racist Ranger!" They would just see a proud cowboy lawman.

What the hell is happening to my beloved Texas?

We no longer own our history.
It belongs to foreign interests and paid for mercenaries.
Crushed beneath the heels of foolishly elected leaders.
A curse upon all who facilitated this abomination.
    Double that right there.
This is part of a book campaign... looks like the book is coming out on the 9th. I would expect it to be fairly revisionist. I'll be interested in my uncle's opinion as he's got a pretty good working knowledge of the Texas Rangers as he's been a Colt collector for decades.

I'll be damned if I pay for a copy of it now.
