    The way it is - higher in the rear, allows the light gathering at the uncovered section of fiber optic BUT keeps the shooter from inadvertently viewing part of that open section of fiber?????

    I'm guessing that makes the front sight more like a "dot".

    You'd really have to be above line of sight for that to be an issue.
