Went to the park this morning with the kids, one made a new friend and *gasp* they hugged when it was time to go.

Plot twist: Talking to the kid's parents, they just moved here from Massachusetts.

Looks like the busybullies got trolled. 20 cop cars show up to bar defying shutdown, but only a few people including the owner were there.

I'm in the Texas City Buc-ee's right now and it's an absolute madhouse. Any semblance of social distancing is pretty much out the window. Very few people (other than employees) wearing masks.

That's a normal day whenever I stopped at the Buccees in Luling and that was when the panic was in full throttle.

    Waste of money and resources.
Almost every report I have seen from epidemiologists and the biggest names in medical schools and hospitals say that we have gone wwaaaay pst any point where contact tracing would be of any help. That needed to be done with the very first cases. And given the incubation period for Covid 19 it likely would not have been of much use anyway.
The money would be put to better use protecting those most at risk.
The latest numbers I have seen, 70-80 percent of the population have a better chance of dieing from almost anything BUT Covid 19.

Our daughter, who lives in SA, was out last night with her twin boys. We went to the local burger joint out in the middle of nowhere and it was like stepping back in time. Families there at all the tables (none were marked off or closed). No marks on the floor. No masks in sight. Staff had no masks. Just like in the old days. We had a great time. I thanked the owner when we left for the total lack of nonsense. "This is a family place", he said. I agree. Maybe we can remember how to be Americans again.

That was pretty much our experience in small towns across east Texas and Louisiana over the last fees days.

One place we stopped at had a poster board-sizes sign that said “We are not wearing a mask and won’t ask anyone to do so. If you’re uncomfortable with that, it’s your choice to go somewhere else.
