I've never owned one. Shot one once for military qualification many years ago. One of those genuine US GI models. If felt good in my hand and I couldn't seem to miss the pop up targets.

I already own a couple of polymer handguns in 45 ACP. A Shield and an XDm 3.8 Compact. When I came across this Springfield Ronin Operator it really caught my eye.

I've found some online for $700-$759, but alas, not in stock. Is there another comparable model or brand in that price range that I should be looking at and comparing? I really like the looks of the Ruger SR1911 too. Or is this one worth waiting for?

Ruger seems to be making a solid 1911. Have read good things about them.

Sig TacOps 1911 is an excellent 1911, if you find a good sale it will cost a bit more but you get more.

I have had good results at the lower end of the scale shooting RIA and Taurus 1911s. My Springfield Range Officer has been rock solid as well. Always liked the looks of the Ruger, just have not owned or shot one.

I’ve got a SA RO that was a birthday gift from my wife 3 years ago. Unfortunately I haven’t put enough rounds through it to give it a review but it’s a very nice firearm and my only 1911. I need to take it for a range day soon. I always swore I wouldn’t have any safe queens - I guess that was a lie..........

Fair warning. 1911’s are like rabbits. They breed really quickly in your inventory.

    Congrats.

I have been very pleased with Check-mate mags. I prefer the metal followers. Have quite a few, no problems at all. They make Sig's 1911 mags. Ed Brown are good also, but I am not so sure that they aren't just private labeling Check-mate manufactured mags.

Some folks are partial to WC mags.
