Hell, as long as I have scrap lumber or some end tables I’m not going to waste my money on jack stands.

Well, since the s thread is already going sideways:

I’ve bought the overpriced junk from the tool trucks. Snap-off and Cornhole are no higher quality than anything else you can find at 1/4 to 1/2 the price. Sure, it’s got a warranty. Does a whole hell of a lot of good when you have to wait up to a week for the truck to show up again, then another week for a part to fix the tool that shouldn’t have broke in the first place. I’ve had Stanly tools outlast pretty much all of their Cornhole or Snap-off counterparts. The only tools that did last were tools that could be bought elsewhere.

HF: You don’t buy that shit to last a lifetime anyways. You buy it cause you need it once or twice and if it lasts beyond that you just gamed the system.

Wanna trigger some fanbois? Watch AvE do the comparisons between HF, snapoff, Milwaukee, etc.

I’ve never seen either have a recall and milk crates are easier to tote around.

I have broken shit from every manufacturer but will spend the extra money on stuff that can be really dangerous if it fails.

Most of it is still made in China though.

When under a vehicle there are multiple layers of safety including stacks of wood.

Saving a few bucks on lifting and holding equipment just isn't worth it even compared to basic medical care like getting a few stitches.

Came close to having that happen with the one out of our '72 Ford Gran Torino.
On the bright side it's a very impactful and unforgettable lesson. No remedial training needed. Ever.

ETA, it also clearly demonstrates what a broken jaw actually is.

How many of you used a bumper jack to change a tire.

Change a tire, sure. I've also used a couple of them to raise the front end of an old Ford truck up so we could then push it sideways until the jacks fell over to get it lined up with the trailer since it was wedged in a spot we couldn't get the trailer lined up to the truck. Then the come a long got it up the ramps and on the trailer.

The more important question is, how many have felt safe using those cheap, chinese scissor jacks that come with cars these days?
