It actually won't help me any, unless my power were to go out for a week or something. But I appreciate it.
Rarely use more than 1gb in a month.

Stupid cable goes out several times a month here, in the middle of the big D, so I'm using my phone as a hotspot a lot. Also, when I'm away from home and don't want to connect to mystery WLANs.

I'm starting to think CV has been around for longer than just a couple of months and didn't appear in the Western world in January, but made a sneak appearance a few months before that.
There are too many (anecdotal, by me) cases of people I know who strongly believe in getting the flu shot every year and early, who came down with severe cases of the flu like crud between Thanksgiving and New Years, with dry barking coughs, fever, snotgurgles, starting with throat tickles, followed by sniffles, and a couple or three days of being flat on their backs.

After our return from the far east in late January we had several crewmembers come down with the worst case of flu any of them have ever had or seen. Fortunately I was off at the time so no exposure by me but many insist the Covid made its rounds on the ship.

Does anyone know about immunity for those already exposed like the common flu has?

It would be nice if HughesNet could cop a clue to this, so we could get a little more access to their crap-slow system during this difficult time.

Bandwidth is taking a beating everywhere. My VPN speed into work is almost cut in half. My personal network speed is barely 500mbps and I typically pull 800mbps prior to everyone working from home and/or having nothing to do.

So, after daily public statements by Smith County officials, including a statement by tge County Judge last night, that there would be no shelter in place order, the Judge just issued a two week stay at home order.

Since the stay at home wording seemed odd to me, I searched until I found a reasonable explanation using the language from the order. Essentially the judge told people to stay at home unless they need to go out for gas, groceries, home supplies, banking, medical, pharmacy and work. The list of essential businesses is equally large and also allows most small businesses with less than 10 employees to stay open.

I am scratching my head wondering why the order, which is punishable by up to a $1000 fine or 6 months in jail, was issued when the restrictions are really minimal and basically represent what everyone around here has been doing anyway.

I live about 100 yards from the Cherokee County line, so its no problem for me, but I think it will do nothing but alarm folks since I have already seen it referred to as a lockdown on our Nextdoor site.

No politician wants to watch all the other guys have all the fun telling people how to live. This is a once a century opportunity to grab power & show the world you know how it ought to be.

These weak orders DO NOTHING to stop viral spread but do leave the door open for punishment.

So no one can say they didn't even try something if/when people get sick anyway. It's all BS. Not to those small businesses that aren't exempted and closed, but pure BS to actually doing anything to stop any sort of spread.

All these orders will put some small businesses out of business and at most slow the spread and HOPEFULLY they can manage the fallout by then. A REAL quarantine, with no effective mass testing is pretty much out of the question, is the only possible way to stop it from spreading further. Pretty much past the point of isolating areas anyway. If it was that bad, about the only thing they could do at this point is isolate infected in one place and those that had contact in another away from the rest of the population. Bit without a reliable way of testing on a mass level, about all that would do is slow things anyway.
And let the politicians try to look good.

I still ain't living in fear. The only thing I have done is to buy a couple of personal water filters. Lifestraw type things that I have been wanting anyway.
