Just read a short comment that the "military" is contacting retired folks(mainly from the medical MOS's) to see if these folks would come back into the service to assist with the CV crises.

That would be news to the AF. All DoD personnel numbers are set by Congress to exceed that would require a waiver. My career field is routinely subject to retired recall to active duty (RRAD) and am on a mailing list related to these matters for critically manned career fields.

    I haven’t seen/heard anything about it.

What I do know is that all new Officer accessions is on hold UFN, separations are still approved to proceed, and all PCS moves/most TDYs are on hold. Those deployed will stay deployed UFN. Most of those TDY to schools or exercises have been sent home.

I have yet to hear anything for enlisted accessions, but at the rate the virus is going thru the dorms at Lackland, I’m guessing those will be on hold soon, if not already. Classes in training will continue until
Graduation, then either be put on admin hold of their tech school is somewhere else, or continue to tech school if it’s at Lackland. But ain’t nobody leaving there UFN.

Two things I am certain of:

    1. The infection rate and deaths in China and Iran are both way underreported
    2. There will be another disease that will originate in China in the future.

All I know is next time I hear about some strange virus that might be spreading in China, I'm going to get me some toilet paper, sanitizer wipes, hand sanitizer, milk, eggs, and a bunch of meat to throw in the freezer, and plenty of beer to drink while I sit back and watch the stupidity in the grocery stores on TV next time. (Actually, milk is the only think I almost ran out of this time around)

I was a Young Corpsman as member of the Young Pioneers of East Germany about 40 years ago. Would that help?

I worked most of my life in an emergency room in a hospital across the street from a VA hospital. We were always short of beds and always getting slammed so we always asked men if they were veterans and if they were we'd transfer them to the VA across the street.

So, one night an eldery gentleman came in and when I asked him if he was a Vet he said yes and as I was getting things ready to transfer him I asked him what branch of service he had served with he replied "Wehrmacht".

    Went to Home Depot today.
Holy shit, I think everyone is sheltering in place there...it was packed beyond belief.

I guess everyone is working on their houses/yards these days.

I have a guy that had to wait in line in Ft Worth to get into one. It had reached it's new capacity level so there was a line of 6 or 7 folks outside (standing 6' apart). As one customer came out, another was allowed to go in.

Yep, neighbor poured an extension to his patio, built a cover over the whole thing and just re-sodded his back yard. Just him and his 12yr old son. Last week he offered to mow our lawn. A little cabin fever I think.

Denton’s line was almost as long as the entire front of the store

People are standing closer in line then they’d ever be if they just let them in the stores

    Our politicians are incredible idiots

    Why wait until then?

Freeze it all and be ready.

So are the business operators. The HD at DeZevala in SAT had none of that stuff in place. Walked in, got my stuff, paid, walked out.
