Now this isn't the HR 5717 Jake Laird of 2018 and 2019. This HR 5717 is introduced by everyone's favorite dem rep Hank (Guam will tip over) Johnson.
I tried to get the official government website on the bill, but had to settle for GovTrack:
This bill needs to be dead on arrival, I urge you to write your reps:

Of course this is a bad bill. I think we need to be especially vigilant to make sure it does not slip through the cracks with the corona mess and even more of a worry, have this attached as an amendment to some corona fighting bill as a public safety thing to keep guns out of the public hands at times like this.

I keep on top of anything to do with gun laws at the Federal, State and local level and do everything possible without physical violence to keep them from being enacted. Can't ever relax because of these self serving assholes.

Many "serve" ONLY to further confuse their own constituents !

Zero respect for our Constitution, the same one they just swore to uphold.

    Yesterday it wouldn't load.
Consider yourself lucky. I have been reading for about 15 minutes and it makes my head hurt.
I will give them THIS much: they compiled a pretty decent gun shopping list. They must get paid by the word?
"All AK rifles, including: <long shopping list>
All AR rifles, including <some of what I have, but again, a good list>
    Semiautomatic shotguns <dang>
    AD nauseum"

I am OUT; it just needs to get killed because of stupidity.

I keep writing but just get platitudes back telling me what a great job they are already doing. How they are standing up for the 2nd and such. If they were these bills would never make it to the bench in the first place.

    We WILL NOT COMPLY !

NO MATTER WHAT, WE WILL NOT COMPLY !

If they are all killed in the result, it would be their own fault !

Personally, I don't believe my local LEO's would try to enforce.

The largest problem with such bills, is that they have good intentions, but lack due process. There are in too many ways for some of less than honorable intentions, to misuse such laws for their own benefit.

Then couple that with no provisions for accountability on the part of the person reporting an issue of a person with a gun, that might, or might not be a danger.

Without penalties assigned for falsely accusing someone, then I see such laws as being dangerous for gun owners, and LE alike.

Just recently, such a law, executed by SWAT in MA, on a warrant, killed 21 year old man, injured his girlfriend, when they were shot while sleeping. From my understanding, they were shot from outside the home.

These laws are bad, and dangerous. They deprive the citizen of their constitutional right to due process, and "innocent, until proven guilty" in a court of law. They are also a backdoor into stepping around the 4th Amendment, of illegal searches and seizures.
