I have the Howard Leight Sport and Walker Excel electronic hearing pro. The both work equally well at outdoor ranges. Not good enough by themselves at an indoor range tho. You need to double up with ear plugs.

I have 4 Howard Leight and one Walker, no problem with any of them for years now. Did you check the batteries? Easy to forget to turn them off.

I have that many because when my daughters, grandkids come over to shoot I want them to be able to hear my directions.

I have the Walker electronic ear pro and I also concurr with that. I thought it was because they fit poorly on my head or something, because they were not adequate for an indoor range.

Actually in the market for some new ear pro because of that. Any suggestions for electronic ear pro that's good enough for indoor and outdoor? Maybe some of the peltor stuff?

Used to be Peltor, never again:

The half-moon piece on left broke off the L2-1 part. Simple customer replaceable part. 3M does not offer this replacement part, even if you are willing to PAY for it yourself. Entire unit is now unusable.

I have since learned this is a common defect on this earpro and lots of people have broken it off and not been able to get fixed. Learn from us.

So now I am looking at MSA Sordin or Walkers.

I usually double up. Foamies/molded in ear plugs and my HL electronic muffs.

FWIW I have custom molded ear plugs plus muffs. Reason being the audiologist I go to said ear plugs alone won't work. The bones behind the ear will transfer the sound to the inner ear and cause damage also and they are covered by muffs. I got the amplified muffs to use when I qualify and have to hear the range officers commands. I did one time and they worked great. I put them up and went back to my normal muffs. About 2 months later I put them on again and they were DEAD. No battery leakage, nothing, just dead. And it wasn't the batteries.

yup, years ago a company made 'bone' phone ear phones. Went around the back of the neck. I use foam plugs and H.L. regular indoors but just the H.L. open air. Maybe walking around on deck with the 5" going off did something?

Look for ones that have a NRR of 31-32 or more. I'm not sure they make electronic ear pro with that high of a rating. The Howard Leight and Walkers are usually down around 22-23 NRR.
