What's the typical distances you're shooting the yotes out there in W. Texas?
Sky is the limit out this way Charlie, but... I'd say 70-300 yards would be real common. 200-300 is the distance they tend to hang up at and do their surveying. I'd have no problems dirt nappin one at 400y. I wouldn't go much past that, I'd sure hate to catch one bad and it suffer.

Edit: But we will be running a 12g just in case we get some coming in hard

You have a range set up out there somewhere, right? Assuming you do, what distance are your "long range" targets?

I had to leave work today to have some pre-op work done. Afterward, I had some time to kill so, I went pawn shopping. Here is the reason that I'm still working and not retired. I get into trouble when I have idle time.

    1989 Glock 19 $359
    Bersa Thunder 380 $150
Henry Survival Rifle $150 unfired w/box (yes, the rest of it is inside the stock)

I need to find a Pawn Shop. I would have grabbed the Henry for sure, and that Glock 19 would go well with the Gen 2 I have.

Well, I ordered it and paid for it, but still waiting for it to arrive. I am waiting for my Walther PPQ 45. Can’t wait to go shooting.

Don't 'hold my feet to the fire' on the distances. But, IIRC got 1@240y 1@460y 1@520 1@660 1@720y 2@1080y +-20yards on those distances. All AR500. So they take almost anything.
In other words, what range are your scopes zeroed for?
I zero all long range rifles @ 100y. That's my base zero, then twist/hold for my dope.

I zero all hunting rifles using a MPBR (maximum point blank range). Via-

I run the round through the Crono, set up for a 4" target, adjust for atmosphere. It's point, shoot and allows for a lot of confidence not thinking about drop. I'm not one that believes in long range hunting. I'm good with >400

I have too much respect for a critter living in x100 harder conditions then me, to take an arrant shot.
