I’m just wondering if the folks who have had their 44’s fail have run them so hard the polymer slide was effected by the barrel getting too hot?
If that is actually an issue then Glock seriously needs to address it. My Advantage Arms Glock conversion and Kimber conversion kits have no issues with being shot hundreds and hundreds of times in a short period of time.

I would think that the dust cover area on the centerfire Glocks would get as hot, or hotter, than the rimfire slide. Just a guess, I have nothing to base it on. But, this the internet, facts just get in the way.

The Advantage Arms conversions that I and my friends have had all ran perfectly.

    maybe.

I think it’s possible that, in spite of the time Glock put in to test and eval, this is still a “first generation” .22 and likely has some bugs that will come out and some guns will fail. But it’s a .22 semiauto pistol. Issues are inherent and inevitable IMO.

I was originally looking at the Taurus TX22 but they started to see issues with use. I hope they work them out, but most guns run fine.

I took the chance early on with this Glock 44 and so far am glad I did. But time will tell if I was too early to buy it. YMMV

If 22plinster says it's a POS, it's a POS. Out of all the .22 firearms he own or has shot, don't think any has ever had as a bad review as the glock 44. I sure as heck wouldn't buy it.
I really think a lot of 22plinkster's issues are magazine related. Not saying the gun is perfect, but neither of my 2 G44s act like his or the one on Military Arms Channel.

I had never heard of 22plinkster before this thread. I never saw his review of the G44. I'll just rely on my own personal experience. It seems that many people discussing the G44 have never even fired one.
If you are a big .22lr shooter, his opinion is highly regarded as I understand it. I started watching him for his trick shots videos as I don't have the luxury of land to set something like that up.

Honestly, I wasn't in the market for a .22lr until there was a Glock .22lr offered. I wanted the training platform without the "meh, close enough," bit.

And for those of you who are worried about the plastic slide, Glock's simunition pistols also use plastic slide technology, if you want to call it that. So that's not exactly new territory either.

I've also read about people loading magazines differently, having the bullet nose up, having the bullet nose down, etc. I haven't noticed any of this with mine. I pull down on the tabs and load a round in. I've never paid any more attention to it than that.

I was out today and tried to leave the top bullet nose-down-ish (as far as I can tell) to try and generate the first round malfunction so often reported, but have yet to experience it period.

So I was trying out Winchester M22 black copper plated 40gr 1000 round box from Walmart. Did the whole thing without cleaning it in 2 sessions. There was a total of 30 malfunctions, 29 of them were on shots fired that had a felt and heard light bang: FTF, FTE, FTL, no slide lock last round, and stovepipe. I'm not ready to hate the G44 when the ammo produces such a noticeable variation shot-to-shot.

I again deliberately left rounds nose down and was able to generate a single malfunction of the much-talked-about first round chambered hanging up issue. Mine happened after 900+ rounds fired since field strip and cleaning, so not that big in my book. That round was bent when I pulled it out, like the bullet had been pulled off-center from the case or improperly loaded in the first place.

I bought mine the a few days ago while I was at range shooting. It was on sale and they had extra mags in stock so I picked up a couple of those too along with a 525 round box of Remington 36gr "Golden Bullets". The gun ran the entire box of ammo through all 4 mags with ZERO failures. This was straight out of the box with no cleaning or lubrication - bash me if you want for this, but I wanted to see what would happen. Also, mine did not have any POA/POI issues with the ammo I was using. For that matter, it shot to the exact same POA/POI with my Gen 5 G19. Maybe I got lucky?

Point of aim is quite similar, but at different distances the ballistics show their distinctions. I can hit dead on G19 and G44 at some distances and have a couple of inches difference at others. But I'm still not complaining. The gun is still more accurate than I am.

I only shot out to 20 yards with both. G44 was the Remington Golden Bullet 36 gr., G19 was the 19M with Ameriglo Agent sights using Winchester White Box 115gr ammo. I'm sure there's a difference with differing ammo, sights, distance, etc. so not disagreeing with you at all.

Friday I went thru 200 rounds each of the 36 gr hp and 40 gr rn CCI Mini-Mags. I had 1 1st round chambered hangup on about the 3rd mag and that was it. So up to 1400 rounds without cleaning and it ran the CCI like a champ.

Total round count on this one is 2k+.

Another 220 rounds of Federal bulk through mine yesterday. That ammo smokes almost like if it was a black powder round. But, it ran like a champ, like poop through a goose. I guess my total rounds are somewhere north of 1000 rounds now. Just some oil on the rails when it was new and no cleaning or lube since. It's a fun little gun.

I made it about halfway through a box of Remington Golden Bullets (~450 36gr rounds) and had several issues with that. I'll give more detail when I finish off that box.
