I will keep shooting my Ruger MKII Competition slab side for now. Or my 22/45 with threaded barrel. I thought I saw on one of the videos they took forever coming to market with this due to exhaustive testing.

I've got 2. Last weekend I put 700+ thru them and my old Walther P22. Wanted to try out the 36gr complaint from the 22plinkster review. I picked up a box of Federal red box bulk, 550 rounds and had a few boxes of CCI Mini-Mag.

The P22 experienced 30 malfunctions out of ~150 Federal rounds thru it, but I know it's fickle.

The G44s malfunctions were very related to which magazine was in. One of the 4 mags only had 2 malfunctions all the way up to one mag having 15 out of 200 rounds.

I'm not saying there's nothing to be improved in the gun, but the magazines functioning properly seem to have a significant influence in the issues. I did NOT experience any loading problems that 22plinkster and Military Arms Channel have described.

All malfunctions were with the Federal red box 36 grain, none were seen while firing the Mini-Mags.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't mind the experiment but I don't know enough to connect all the dots here.

Yes, but why am I seeing such a large variation in malfunctions between magazines? Surely there's more to this story than how heavy the projectile is.

JMHO but I think the magazines do play a major part in the malfunctions. The lighter weight bullets seem to amplify the problem. I think we'll see Glock modify these mags in the near future and hopefully offer free replacement of the current ones.

I took one of the G44s out today and tried to replicate the bullet-angle-in-the-magazine issue MAC demonstrated. I see what they are doing but could not get a malfunction like that. I didn't experience it either last weekend when I wasn't trying.

Today's ammo was the lead Federal white box.

22plinkster also complained about point of aim being off. I haven't had any issue at all with either G44. No adjustment necessary, just dead on accurate.

I bought a G44 a couple weeks ago and have shot it in only one range visit. I put a couple hundred rounds through it with mainly American Eagle .22 and had zero issues.

if it starts to choke, I’ll reply and say so. At this point, it’s running fine. Recoil is about the same as with my Glock blowback BB gun...

If 22plinster says it's a POS, it's a POS. Out of all the .22 firearms he own or has shot, don't think any has ever had as a bad review as the glock 44. I sure as heck wouldn't buy it.

I’m wondering if you are serious or just another Glock hater? 22Plinkster is just some YouTube guy who makes homemade videos...he is no engineer. His opinion isn’t any more relevant to me than half of this forum...

For what it is, the Glock 44 is a great shooter for me thus far, and I lent it to a friend who put another 200 flawless rounds through it yesterday. All were cheap Federal or CCI 40 grain bullets. If sticking to 40 grain rounds or decent ammo is the price for reliability, I’m good with it.

This gun is definitely as reliable as either Ruger I own, an SR22 and a 22-45 target barrel and a lot more valuable to me as a trainer. It’s accuracy is not quite up to the 22-45, but it’s loads better than the SR.

And perhaps time will change things, both Rugers will choke at least a couple times in a hundred rounds...the Glock hasn’t yet. Of course, the Rugers both have thousands of rounds through them...but I do keep them clean and lubed.

I love how people will jump on any criticism of the Glock as being sacrilegious, then will bash every other manufacturer as being inferior! They get all giddy at the mere idea of Glock putting out a new product, even if it's already been done to death, and won't accept there may be a possibility that it's crap...

But hey, I was a Glock fanboi at one point as well. I found them to be a helluva improvement over the M9 we were being forced to carry (I would have much preferred a 1911!). When I had the chance to give up the Beretta for a G17, I jumped on it! I remained a true believer until I handled a Springfield XD in 2006, which I found suited my tastes better. Glocksters acted like everyone that jumped to the SA bandwagon were heretics, despite the fact that the new XD line included many improvements over the Glock it copied.

I see Glock as being like Porsche with their 911, believing they have found the perfect solution whereas the truth is the latter required a lot of "development" before that car found its full potential. Glock has creeped forward but hasn't gone far enough in advancing its products over the decades. It's not like they need much improvement, but they can be improved despite what their zealous fans believe.

As for the G44, sadly it appears this one won't be an automatic winner for Glock. For one, it's entering an already saturated market but I suspect Glock believes it's adamant followers will buy one even though it's an average offering at best. Secondly, it does seem to be having more issues than Glock fans care to admit. While I admire their loyalty, it has blinded them to the fact that perhaps Glock no longer is the end all, be all in the polymer semi-automatic pistol market that they once were. It happens to the best of us...

They will sell every last one they make, 10 round mags and all. Other manufacturers have to offer threaded barrels and whatnot to get just a slice of what Glock gets on a daily basis, even with 22plinkster's bad review.

Could it be better? Sure. That's not even a question to me. Does it do what I want for a price I'm willing to pay? Absolutely.

    Gunz are icky.
I’m just wondering if the folks who have had their 44’s fail have run them so hard the polymer slide was effected by the barrel getting too hot?
