Saw one of these in person at Christmas in a local shop in MN. Shop owner said it was ordered for Brock Lesner who does live in that area.....

    Beautiful rifle.

The 45-70 version is on my list.

Congrats. I think you'll love it.

I went back and forth on the 30-30 or the 45-70.
Suppressor compatibility was a major deciding factor. And I only have one 30-30 and it is 48 years old. Still kills the majority of my deer, but it has earned a break.

Ordered it yesterday. Should be in next week. Range reports to follow.

These interest me greatly. I would have went 1895 as the 45-70 is an extremely versatile round.

Please do a table top review upon unboxing. I would love to hear fit n finish thoughts.

If you dont mind could you give a ball park price? MSRP for both the 1895 and 336 is in the 950 range I believe. I've seen 750 advertised but not in stock.

Own 3 1895s already in 45-70( although one is for sale here to make room for the new Marlin)
I paid $799 at Sportsman’s Outdoors Warehouse with free shipping.
    Well, $865 with tax

Nice look to that gun. I love the big loop option on lever action guns.

Will be picking up gun in a couple of hours.
Depending on how heavy the rain is I will be shooting it 30 minutes after I fill out the 4473.
I have a box of 170 grain ammo my dad bought at K-mart right after he bought the Marlin I shoot now. Should I use a round of it to christen the gun? ;)
    The box and price tag.

Did not take it out and shoot it yet. It is raining so hard the rounds would just fall to the ground before hitting a target anyway:roflsmile:( at least according to someone)
Gun feels solid and points easily. I don’t think I will have a tough time adjusting to a 16.25” barrel.

    Now to decide on optics....

Trigger feels about like my older Marlin. No creep and crisp. Probably at 4-4.5 lbs but I honestly don’t feel like opening the package my trigger weight gauge and finding out.

What are you leaning towards for optics?

A scout scope would be fitting but it's pretty hard to beat a nice red dot for pure speed shooting.

The purists are already upset so you don't have to worry about that.

    That is sharp.
A red dot would be great for the fast multiple target acquisition but I do want to be able to reach out and hit stuff as well. I am currently looking for something in the 1-4/2-6x that is compact enough to be able to put NV or thermal in front of it.
    Any suggestions?
