    Rural Wise County, TX.
In 1981, Morton Grove became the first town in America to prohibit the possession of handguns.

    In response.................

In 1982, the city council in Kennesaw, Georgia, passed an ordinance requiring heads of households to maintain working firearms and ammunition.

Be careful, you may ruffle a few feathers, coming from IL (& CA) with ideas on how we ought to do things in TX.

    BRD@66,

Let's HOPE that we ruffle the leftist outsiders/LIBs feathers enough that they will LEAVE Texas forever.

We are a State of 100% immigrants (Even our Amer-Indian tribes are emigrants within the last < 200 years.) & the descendants of immigrants BUT being Texan is special & needs to remain so forever.

Note to new residents: You will make FEW friends in TX by constantly opining about how we did it in ______/any LIB state.

    just my opinion, satx

Didn't know about that, but I've been trying to maintain that law.
    Damn boating accident

    easy rider; motorcarman,

I was stationed at Ft Gillam GA when that ordinance was passed.
(Some other nearby towns have since passed similar laws.)

Note: Kennesaw, GA allows poor residents to request a firearm be loaned to them, if they cannot afford to buy one & to request to NOT be required to own a firearm if they believe themselves to be "- - - - unfit by reason of mental or physical disability to handle a firearm safely".

    dogbone,

Fyi, I was once a resident of & stationed in "Charm City" near Johns-Hopkins medical center.
(I was REALLY pleased to leave B'more & return to Ft. Hood/TX.)

What I meant was the new residents, who complain that they wish that TX was more like NY/CA/WA/OR/etc. will make few friends by talking about how they did it in their previous state & how "primitive"/ignorant/stupid/etc. that we Texans are by comparison.
(Fwiw, my lady was born in Portland, OR & raised in Spokane, WA & is now a PROUD "Tex-Anne" by adoption. Also, my adopted daughter was born in Mexico, is now a FANATIC "Orangeblood" & naturalized US citizen since 05JUL09 & further my son by adoption, Nathan Paul, was born in CA on 21MAY19.)

Of our little family, I'm the only native-born Texican.

    yours, satx

I was just trying to bring out the irony of BRD's statement while talking of sanctuary counties in Texas, when Effington County, IL was the first sanctuary county in the nation.

Obviously was not aimed at you.
No, and I understand what you meant, I just found it ironic.

But I will say this. I believe myself to be a very staunch believer in the Constitution, especially the 2nd Amendment, as I believe most if not all members here. I also believe there are those the same, possibly even more so, in every state. I love Texas, and I'm happy to be calling it my home, but in how to keep our rights, I am open to suggestions, whether they come from Texas or outside.

Then you have some understanding of just how thrilled I was to cross the Potomac river and see Maryland in my rearview mirror when my wife and I headed out on our trek to a new home in Texas.

I know what you meant. I have little patience with those moving here and refusing to embrace the full wonder of Texas, especially when they are blind to those aspects of their former home which made them want to escape from it in the first place. I love my new home here in Texas and generally talk about "how we did it in Maryland" only as a dire warning of the outcome of progressive policies. Okay, I will confess to mentioning some Maryland stupidity such as the "Rain Tax" just to watch people's jaws drop in disbelief. ;)

To try to get the thread back on track, here's a non-Facebook link to an article which also has links to some of the resolutions passed in several counties. These can be used as a starting point in putting together a resolution to present to your own Commissioners Court.

What's the difference between 2A resolution and Constitutional resolution?

I am not an immigrant. I was born and lived here and served my country from here. I have immigrant ancestors way back but I am not an immigrant. Natural born Texan and will die here too if I have my way. Even have plans for after death at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

    dogbone,

TRUTH is that the only thing that I really miss about MD is the GREAT crab cakes made by the ladies of an AME church in Scotland, MD. - The ladies support their church with a Saturday "all you can eat" lunch each week for (the last time I was there) for 15.oo a head.
(I have to admit that I once ate six of them at a single Saturday noon "pig out" down there.)

What's the difference between 2A resolution and Constitutional resolution?

Looking at the wording of the resolution passed by Collin County, termed a Constitutional Resolution on the map linked previously, it seems to be a statement of affirmation of the entire Constitution and Bill of Rights, rather than specifically mentioning the Second Amendment. I think they can be counted in the win column.

The majority of these resolutions are not ordinances and have no actual power of law behind them. A resolution, whether 2A or Constitutional, is serving primarily as a symbol of a county's support for rights. Symbols can have a power of their own and the words behind them gain a bit more when they are in ink on paper. Will a 2A resolution give us Constitutional Carry or overturn the NFA? Of course not. They may help dissuade some power hungry politicians in both Austin and DC from particularly stupid actions.

    Only six?
Someone needs to make a video comparing a Marylander's first tamale with a Texan's first steamed hard crab.
