I recently bought a cmc 3.5lb single stage trigger for my ruger ar556 in 300aac. I installed just as shown in the video. After moving the hammer back manually the trigger would lock up and not fire. I would have to manually move the trigger forward while pulling the hammer back to get it to actually reset. I watched a video online about this and the guy said to sand down where the hammer (and I think the disconnector catch) and did this and took off a very minute amount and now the dang hammer won’t even lock back(which makes me worry it’ll just dump the mag when I try and fire once)... I’m sure they probably won’t take the trigger back now since I altered it, however I was seeing a ton of people doing this online. Anyone have any advice?
Ohh... I can also not move the safety selector back and forth now too unless I manually reset the trigger and hammer... -_- please help...I need an adult... lol.

Damn. Primary arms has these on sale for $99 right now and I was really tempted. I read a lot of reviews but decided on an aero m4a1 lower and some mags and a good bit of ammo. Bit more money than the cmc but I'm glad I did. Reviews seem lukewarm, depending on the site. It a homegrown Texas company and I understand their customer service to be top notch. They will take care of you, but it is a pain to have to deal with anyone other than the retailer when you are buying a boutique item.

You have a serious problem there with fit or binding. If you have to you need to get someone to look at it and get it fixed before you use it.

    Where at in houston?

I know there is a serious problem :/ and I’m in humble Texas which is the northeast side of houston. I hope they just send me a new trigger,

You hit the nail on the head. I’m worried they won’t help me because I filed a little bit off the hammer to try and get it to work. It’s sad when advertised as a drop in trigger you have these kinds of problems.

Not a big fan of cassette triggers anymore. I just buy Geissele triggers.......sure they are a bit more than expensive, but you get what you pay for and I believe they are the best out there. Buy once, cry once.

My kid is down in Pearland, too far away for help. Maybe one of the N.Hous. guys will swing through here and be able to help.

Also, Post your reply on the OUTSIDE of the QUOTE] <--marks...:green:

If the tension screws on my ALG trigger are too tight, it exhibits some of the same issues.

But the CMC triggers don’t have these screws (they tension the trigger in the receiver so it doesn’t wiggle).

    Strange...

Never had a problem with a CMC trigger.

OP needs to get with a gunsmith or someone who knows what they are doing. The sanding does likely mean CMC won't replace the trigger, as nice of folks as they are.

I have a dozen CMC triggers, and gave never had a single problem. They are my go to.
I know it doesn’t help now, but had you not sanded on it, they would have swapped it out for you.

When you do triggers you should be polishing the parts not sanding them. Sounds like something may not be installed in the right position. Might check for any burrs on the trigger or disconnect where they meet. Make sure that you polish on the flat of the trigger parts if you are not careful you can round the edge which is not good.
