These guys supposedly are the only company that sells refurb Vortex optics:

    https://aaoptics.com/Refurbished_c_114.html

Vortex does all of the refurbishing, and they carry the same warranty that all other Vortex optics have.

Some good deals...If I’m looking for a Vortex in the future, I’ll prolly check here first.

    Out here by the lake!
In my mind its refurbished because it has all ready failed at least once. That gives me a total lack of confidence in the product, design, R&D & Q. C. it goes through.

They all fail to some degree.

I spent about an hour analyzing scopes last weekend. Been wanting a long range scope for my 6.5 cm. Looked at scopes that were appx 6-24 x 52.

Was a bit disappointed in the Sig BDX. Glass was not as clear as I had hoped. Was rooting for that one since I have a BDX rangefinder.

Nikon Monarch glass was not quite as good as I'd hoped. In fact not as clear as other Monarchs I own.

Zeiss was near the best, but at almost double the price.

It came down to the Vortex Razor and Nikon Black. Very similar, but I preferred the reticle on the Nikon. Nikon was also $150 cheaper.

I've had good luck with Nikon replacing problem scopes. I think every brand has defective units. None are perfect.

On the refurb's. If it's like anything else guy buys a new one and decides he doesn't like it, buyers remorse, or whatever. He returns it for a refund and now it can't be sold as new, ergo refurb.

Nikon warranty is lifetime "To the original purchaser" with proof of purchase. Vortex and Leupold is lifetime warranty to whoever sends it in. Original owner or pawn shop/gun show purchase. No questions.

Nuff said on warranty. I stay with Vortex. Especially if I can buy used for cheap.

Ouch, they have the Razor HD 20-60x85 spotting scope for $850. That could cost me some money, it's what I've been wanting but over a grand was over the hill.

I bought a pair of Leica Trinovid 10 X 42 binoculars for my wife that came with a lifetime warranty - bought em over 20 years ago, cost over $1200.00.

A few month back they went out of focus.

She sent them in for what we expected to be a no cost repair.

Result: They said, sure they'd fix em, for $600.00

Denied there was any proof of purchase, but lowered the cost to fix em and she argued that no they shouldn't cost anything to be repaired.

They again lowered the repair cost and again and again and finally admitted, yep, miracle of miracles, they did have our registered warranty after all.

This argument lasted well over a month.

Finally, no cost to repair them.

Because my wife is a hard ass negotiator who simply refused to give in, our ahem, 'lifetime warranty' was finally honored.....

If you pay high dollars for anything with a 'life time' warranty don't feel necessarily assured it will be honored without a hard fight even with proof of purchase.

My SCAR-L ate a 2-7 vortex about 6 years ago with only 80 rounds down the pipe... the reticle came loose inside the optic at about 75 rounds and would turn about 1/8th inch with every shot..

when i got home from the range I called them about the warranty they asked what firearm it was on, I told them it was a FN SCAR 308.... silence..... then he asked if i had the original box, which i did, said to send it in.. so i paid shipping cheap way via USPS

a week or so later fed ex delivered a brand new replacement optic.

IIRC, Vortex has a very good, "No BS" warranty and will take care of you. If these optics have that same warranty, I don't see much risk in buying them.

I have never had an issue with any of my Vortex stuff, even the cheap ones. If I'm in the market for an optic. I go to them first.

    I'm glad to hear it.

I own a Vortex Venom RD, though I expect (hope) it'll never give me any problem as it's mounted on a Browning Camper which has almost zero recoil, so...

Bought a red dot from Vortex. Had issues with the dot doing “grapes”. Returned it. No questions asked. Gave me a new one. Went back and forth three times only to find out I have astigmatism. The scope was not the problem but my eyes. Vortex is a stand up company.

Curious: How did the replacement perform? On the same SCAR?

Due to all the fading / disappearing reciepts these days, I make photo copies of anything that has a warranty. I then staple said copy of receipt in the owners manual. Its worked out really well for me.

I do similar only I take pictures and store them on the computer, which is also backed up. Even photocopies fade. It also helps as I can access them online as well from my phone from wherever I am.

These guys just posted over on reddit, they just got their last shipment of refurbs in for the rest of the year.

If you’ve been shopping, go there quick.

I’ve been wanting an HD Gen 2 1-6 with the JM reticle...they’ve all been the VMR reticle up to this point.

Just checked, lucked out and snagged one with the reticle I wanted.

    Half-price + factory warranty = no-brainer
