How buried were you on that Toyota?

Depends what you mean with buried. I got way more than I owed on it but it cost me 6K to drive it for 13 months. So way cheaper than renting a car LOL. Also a large chunk of that 6K was in taxes and 27K of that 33K I paid on the tacoma was transferred to the ford. Without pulling out the contract I think I was taxed $430 ish on the transaction.

A lot of people that say sell your car private party and reap the rewards fail to realize in TX you are taxed on the difference of your trade and purchase not on the purchase price of the car like in California. So if your car is still worth a good chunk of change you are better off trading it in than selling it and paying the full tax on a new car.

While still on the honeymoon with the ford I will say it was worth every bit over giving up the no balls and small cabin of the tacoma. I Tried hard to like it I did like it when I purchased it but with it getting the same or less than a truck with way more HP in MPG ratings and the cramped cabin.

But then again I am biased to higher HP and torque things.

the color is strange. It changes from almost a light blue to a dark gray depending on light and how overcast it is.

As far as the diesel vs gas look at the tow numbers for the 3.5 twin turbo over the v6 diesel. And ya the Diesel gets 30 mpg but the cost of diesel kills that dead. Now factor in maint costs of the Diesel and for me it was a no brainer.

I have owned several higher HP factory cars and this truck is right up there. Drop it in sports mode and it moves. I was reading on the forums that with just a tuner you can get the 4x4 down to 0-60 in 4 sec and the 2wd to 5. Now I am sure they are beating the hell out of the drivetrain but that is impressive for a truck with a lil ole v6

    That is a nice color.
    It's a gas engine.

Depends what you mean with buried.

Buried means that you owe way more than it's worth, also referred to as upside down.

27K of that 33K I paid on the tacoma was transferred to the ford.
You mean that the difference was only $6k, and you paid tax on that...

Well, that depends on the tax you would pay on a trade vs the sales tax on a new car. If you you have a used trade they offer $10k for on a $50k vehicle, you pay tax on $40k at 6.25% on that, or $2500. If I sell the used car outright for $15k and buy that $50k car with no trade, I pay $3125 in tax. I still came out ahead by $1875.

Glad you are happy, I prefer the Ford too.

Total purchase with tax and all other fees on the tacoma was 33 I sold it for 27

total on the ford before tax and fees was +- 32K so I was taxed on +-5K

I do not think I could have sold the tacoma for what it saved me in taxes +27K so in my case it would have been foolish to try on top of the price difference I did not have to deal with 100 idiots I would have had to talk with from marketplace or c list. I only had to deal with 3 idiots at the dealership that in its self is worth more than the cash. And it was done in a few hours not weeks.

In some cases yes it works to sell private party and come out on top. In my case after looking around at what prices 2wd tacoma off roads were not selling at I saw several over the last few weeks sitting at 28K and not moving. While I priced and researched what I wanted to buy.

And to be clear no I was no where near upside down. And even on the Ford I did not have to get gap insurance to cover the remainder of the loan with 0 out of pocket. Yes my loan amount is higher by 6-7K but again for that amount the ford is well worth it over the Tacoma in my book on top of that my rate dropped from 5.9 to 4.5%

First test of the motovan completed. Went to the Harvest Classic Vintage bike rally, and then on to Camp Wood to ride the Three Sisters again.

Mrs Pronstar’s CPO suburban’s shocks were toast...I really wanted to put Kings on it, but that would’ve required lifting the front and she wasn’t having any of it.

So I put yellow Bilsteins on it and saved $3k

What an improvement compared to the blown-out stockers

It also got new Pirelli Scorpions last week. Three tires were OEM Michelin’s with 30k on them, but one was a brand-new Firestone and I’m too anal to have mismatched tires.

One bulb went out on my wife's car (Audi Q5) a couple of months ago. I looked under the hood which, of course, immediately overwhelmed me! No way you can get to the inside (or from the outside) to change any of the several bulbs! A friend found a U-Tube video and we had it changed in less than 10 minutes. The changing part was easy once we got to the bulb (which went from impossible to easy and fast, with the U-tube video!).

Just ordered 4 Kicker 6x8's and a pair of Infinity tweeters for the A-pillar for the f150.

Hoping that will wake up the ride . I'm tempted to install a aftermarket double din receiver that has hands free texting. Riding with Txstetson down to the meet ruined me.
Funny you should mention that. I just gave my daughter an early Christmas gift of a new stereo with Apple Carplay last week. Its a Pioneer and it was <$400 installed at Best Buy.

Put 5 new tires on my Expedition today. The old ones had 8k on them. Not a typo 8k. 5 years old though. Just like the last time. This is what my 5 year old tires looked like in December 2014. Replaced them and 5 years later, same thing. I went with Bridgestone instead of BFGoodrich this time. Also finally replaced the 16 year old spare.

    Lubed my brake calipers.

Thought I needed new front pads, they were squealing so bad, I thought my wear indicators were the cause.

Turns out, there’s easily 60% thickness left (at 60k miles) on my factory pads.

A bit of caliper grease was all it needed to shut them the hell up.

Put a set of pads on the Camaro, but didn’t touch the rotors. I might be trading it in for a sedan soon, so I didn’t bother. Fun fact, and yes I did it on one wheel, you can actually change at least the rear pads without ever taking the wheel off.
