Look, I'm pro-cop. What else do you expect them to say? I'd say that too if my butt was on the line. There's a lot of info we still don't have.

I would expect the truth because if it was an ND that fact is going to get out. So get ahead of the story with the truth.

It's unfortunate that the political climate of the last several years has made it where the cops are of the mindset it's us vs. them and preach the focus is on getting home alive at the end of each shift.

It's understandable from one aspect, but it's a combat mentality, not a protect and serve mentality. If the general population hostility towards officers were to tone down several notches, perhaps the police could relax a little and also be able to recruit and retain better qualified individuals.

Common sense. Neighborhood doesn't count. ....

My comment about the neighborhood was just to point out that it could be reasonably expected that the responding officers would encounter a person of a particular race inside the residence. If a lawyer were to play the race card, it would be brought up due to preconceived notions about race and such.

Adding they also prepared a civil rights violation case to give to the FBI.

Unfortunate politically correct BS in my opinion. Killing an innocent individual isn't always about race.

“I saw her raise her hands and point them at me with what appeared to be gun”

Works 99% of the time, especially when there really is a gun.

Then there's the perfect angle for the NRA to spin the public opinion back a bit in their favor. We have the 2A, but the government agencies will kill you in your own home if they see you with a gun. They need to be punished for abusing your rights. (and the murder thing too).

Maybe if the police would stop murdering innocent people in their own homes, we might be able to relax a little and think about trusting them more.

Cities need to invest in law enforcement. They love to pay for fancy parks and other non essentials while overworking and underpaying police. They need to pay, hire and train better.

I would just like law enforcement (and everyone else) to observe the 4 basic rules of gun safety.

I think the officer had his finger on the trigger and fired before he intended to. I say that because he didn’t even finish saying, “show me your hands” before he shot. I think he’s trying to cover his rear by saying he perceived a threat.

I have seen videos of lots of shootings where cops intentionally and necessarily shoot in the middle of commands. Bad guys are often going through the motions of trying to draw or whatever and the cop will verbally try to tell them to stop but because the bad guy continues to move aggressively, the cop fires in the middle of commands. Not saying that is what happened, only that when the cop fired does not indicate one way or the other about whether or not he had a ND. His sights were obviously on target.

Cities need to invest in law enforcement. They love to pay for fancy parks and other non essentials while overworking and underpaying police. They need to pay, hire and train better.

Cities do need to invest in law enforcement. They need to invest in teachers. They need to invest in roads. Money needs to be put into a lot of things, but the general public doesn't want to pay for that. They don't want to pay for more offers. They don't want to pay for more training. They don't want to pay for more highly skilled school teachers. I don't know a single landowner without some sort of exemption (ag, age, open space, etc.) that doesn't fight their taxes to pay as little as they can possibly get away with paying.

Parks are not non-essential. Parks are actually very significant to the health of cities on several levels.

Median salary in Ft Worth is 76,000. That is more than most people make. That should be enough.

Salary wise that should be enough given median income in DFW is $59k. However, the investment in LEO is a bit more complicated than simple salary.

It’s a profession, just like Medicine, engineering... It’s not a social experiment. They need to invest in recruiting folks with the correct skills and more importantly the correct mindset. They need to train the correct skill sets to handle issues created by criminals. They need to continue to train those skills to keep them sharp. They also need to stop kissing SJW asses and throwing officers under a bus every time someone gets their panties in a bunch.

I wish it were as simple as a pay raise and viola bad ass cops show up in masse. Don’t work like that.
