The silent voyeurs ... aren't really part of the community.
There's 150 active members? I thought it was more like 50-60.
My definition of "participate" was having more than 1000 posts and active within the last year. By that definition, we have way over 150 participating members.

Again, what are your definitions of "active" and "part of the community"?

I like the active in the last year part, but it takes quite a while to achieve 1000 posts.

That sounds like a pretty good metric for active. How much is a "way"? ;)

    "part of the community"?
This is a little more subjective, but at a minimum to be part of the community someone would need to interact with and in turn be engaged by other members. There's definitely a few people on here that despite being active, aren't really a part of the community.

    Here's my own personal definitions.

Active - Weekly if not daily posts, along with at least 150-200 posts overall. Those are the guys you see pretty much every time you get on. They are the face and spirit of the forum. I don't know if I could count the guy who has 10,000 posts but has only posted 3 times in the last year as being a currently active member. He would be considered a part of the community though.

Part of the community - having contributed a not insignificant amount of time/work towards improving/growing the community (making good posts and threads, making friends, having good discussions, ect).

Publicly publishing those numbers is up to the board owners. I believe they consider the information proprietary so I refuse to be any more precise.

I just wanted to make the point that there are more people doing more posting than some folks seem to realize.

I have no idea how to put that into numbers I can pull from a database. :)

ETA - That last sentence was a joke and a lie but knowing how to run the numbers and being willing/empowered to do so are two different things.
