That may well be the strategy. Get this one on the books, then come back and say it didn't work so they need to pass something more restrictive.
That's always the strategy. Like a python. Tighter and tighter, but never loosening. Until finally, the life is squeezed out of the 2nd amendment.

BTW, I ordered a few more magazines for grandfathering, just in case it passes. :)

Yep. Ineffective laws allow them to continue to pass more laws until we become like Europe

Ya'll are missing what is happening. They passed the most outlandish bill possible knowing full well it won't pass. After negotiating with the senate and throwing out the most egregious stuff they knew wouldn't pass it will be pared down thru negotiation to what they actually wanted to pass, this time. Were I in the Senate there would be no negotiating, just a simple up or down vote as written.

The negotiations appear to be more like bribes to me. I will vote for your bill if you will vote for mine. That is not negotiating in good faith for the people. That is bribery, plain and simple.

Semi-Auto Assualt weapon (SAW)...REALLY? I have NO IDEA what you are talking about, to be honest, I know of no such thing as an Assualt Rifle or weapon or pistol, never saw one in the US Army, but if you MUST, then perhaps a little clarification. You must be talking about a Full Auto short-barreled battle rifle, I guess that could would be an Assualt rifle if you used it in the Semi-Auto mode.

Sorry, think you are trying to ban something that does not exist. Please take this bill and roll it up into the shape of a cone and wear it on your head...or as an option, you can give it to me and I will attach it to the toe of my ASSUALT Boot and place it in your rectum...

No, we can't just block them and keep it from going farther. Every attempt to further compromise the constitution should cost them. They try to ban magazines, the hearing protection act is enacted. They try to ban AR-15s, the GOPA gets rolled back. They try to push red flag laws, the NFA is nullified.

There's no political will in the Senate to expand gun rights and it's impossible in the House right now. The best we can hope for is fighting to maintain status quo.

Why in hell would you want to roll back the GOPA? You want to get rid of the ability to mail order handgun ammo?
