So has there been anything else on this? Was the seller really an unlicensed manufacturer or just a private seller? Was he making AR's from 80% lowers or what? Strange how this story just kinda faded away, unless I've missed something.

This morning on the radio, Chris Salcedo said that the seller was manufacturing guns to sell. I found this store in the DMN.

My guess is that they are trying to build a case against the seller of the gun.

If it was an illegal sale already, then it flies in the face of Patrick and all of those who say we need to ban private sales and expand background checks. So far, all of the "mass shooters" I can remember either passed background checks or stole the guns. I don't know of any that bought them legally from a private sale.

Exactly. Other than *possibly* this one which we still don't know for sure, I'm also not aware of any mass shooter that got their weapon from a private sale - most even bought from a dealer and passed the background check. So why are we going through all this UBC crap - exactly what problem is this supposed to solve??

Reminds me of the Movie Porky’s.

    Does anyone believe Coach Balbricker?

She claims to be able to identify the “mods special member.” Something about an incriminating mole....mods better line up!

Only older guys will remember that scene.:bring:

To me, if it was an AR-15, then they would have come right out and said so. I find it very convenient that within days they can track down where it came from, but have a hard time identifying the type of weapon.

    You would think.
But maybe they had a reason not to come out and say what it was.

Honestly, the focus on the weapon is misplaced. It gives the grabbers something inanimate to grasp onto, to ban.

An evil person used a firearm to kill people is really all I need to know. The rule of firearm, to me, shouldn’t be relevant.

It’s akin to Brits wondering if a criminal used a steak knife, or a pairing knife, to stab someone.

One thought I have had is that the LE at some level were aware of the illegal sale prior to shooting, but had yet to finish the investigation and charge the seller/manufacturer before the POS committed murder.

If that were true, then they have him in custody. Why stay quiet about it now? They certainly were quick to point to a guy in Lubbock as the source.

If the manufacturer/seller was also a prohibited person, where was he getting serialized parts such as a lower? Or maybe there is something unique about the build that is repeated on all this guy’s build...a signature, if you will, that releasing the pertinent info would compromise other investigations of other purchasers.

There are a couple of other scenarios that are just plausible enough like that and they all result in whatever agency is doing the investigation look like a complete clown show for not acting sooner, which might not be in the agency’s best interest to disclose.

Then why announce anything about his connection to the Odessa shooter? If there was others involved, you would think they would want to keep the whole thing quiet. It's all pretty fishy to me.
