I have no particular problem when there is a revolving door in the White House. Same as it ever was.

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about Bolton; however, I do feel that every President needs at least one hard-line hawk on his/her team, and the National Security Advisor is an appropriate position for such a person. There are always pragmatists, sycophants, and diplomacy-seekers in the mix advising the President. However, the President retains the right to shake up, mix up, and dump folks as he/she sees fit. :meh:

I think he was initially hired for his FP experience, but never could adapt and get on board with the stated different goals and objectives of this admin versus the last nation-building one he was a big part of.

Good riddance as far as I'm concerned and, in hindsight, never should have been there in the first place.

You know, with that thread title, they could just about make this thread a sticky and just link it to the POTUS twitter account.

Of course it does keep him as front page news on a constant basis, and that's how he won the election last time.

While I don’t particularly care for Bolton I do appreciate his America first attitude when dealing with foreigners.

If he had come in and been able to strengthen America while getting us OUT of Iraq and Afghanistan I would have extremely happy.

When Trump announced his hiring I was very worried Bolton would talk Trump into another disastrous campaign somewhere.

Now, if Bolton and Mattis has been able to work together to turn Afghanistan into a huge soccer field, in very short order, I would have been pretty happy too.

We will have to agree to disagree. Bolton is realistic and pragmatic. He understands that some entities will never be backed down by negotiation, no matter how many decades the negotiation attempts last.

He also understood that when you take an isolationist approach and bury your head in the sand, you will get kicked in the tail eventually.

Bolton saw the weaknesses in the UN (which the US largely funds) and how other nations stabbed us in the back time and time again. He refused to let the US be governed by the UN.
So name what foreign invasion turned out to be a success for America? If our government would have focused on protecting our borders witch by the way is one of the few things they are actually responsible for. And had not started wars in foreign countries to increase the profits of corporations who in turn pay off those officials who support those wars with donations, gifts, SPEAKING FEES, and dream jobs and business deals for there family members America would have been a MUCH better country with greater opportunity for it's citizens as well as made America a much safer place with fewer enemies.

How many attacks have been made on American soil by Muslim terrorists since we freed Afghanistan and took out Saddam? I don't recall any more 9/11's. Did I miss something? Does anyone really think that after 9/11 Al Qaeda just kicked up their feet and made a voluntary decision to retire? No one on this board (I hope) is that stupid.

Had we sat back in the isolationist mode, we would still be having 9/11's on a regular basis. This is what you and other isolationists ignore (to our peril).

Bush and Bolton understood that the Muslim terrorists had to be denied safe havens and that they could not carry off attacks on the US when on the run and hiding in caves.

https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/attacks/american-attacks.aspx OVER 70 ISLAMIC ATTACKS CARRIED OUT SINCE 9-11 ON U.S. SOIL. This list is likely incomplete and does not include planned attacks that were stopped.

https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/attacks/american-attacks.aspx Here is the list of over 70 islamic inspired attacks on U.S. soil since 911 not counting the thwarted attacks. There are an estimated 2.15 million adult muslims in the U.S. now. If only 1% are radical they already have an islamic army within America.

None of which were any comparison at all in scale to 9-11.
So as long as they do not kill 1000's at the same time it is acceptable? You talk as is all the terrorists are still in the middle east. All the alleged 9-11 hijackers came here legally with our state departments blessing. By the way most of the 9-11 terrorists where saudi so why did we not invade saudi arabia? You can bet there are more than 1% of them already in America that share the radical views of the 9-11 terrorists. How about those who are entering through our unsecured southern border? So how many Americans citizens can be killed and/or injured from islamists in America and still be considered acceptable?
