Re: Ballistics. I interviewed everyone I could who’d been shot in the face with subject calibers.

    They all died.

Philosophically, a pistol buys time to get to a rifle; I have a 458S upper on the way. Until then, 300BLk will have to do.

Who thinks Moonpie’s itch for pics will get satisfied before Cam finds out what firearm the Odessa jackhole used?

Impressive, put out the fire of the current argument, inject a little reality, and throw in multiple digs from multiple threads in the same post. You Sir, win the internet today.

115 gr has been the standard for 9mm for years. Hell, back in the day it was the ONLY loading.

Nope. Initial ww1 loading was 124 grains. Early into ww2 the germans transistions to a lightweight (less than 90 grain) load to save resources.

Europe had been using 124gr for pistols forever, 115gr became a thing mainly for use with SMG's.

And when the wonder nine revolution hit the US, it was with 124gr, obviously 115gr was super common, but using practice/plinking ammo as the "standard" just because its what's common is purposely missing the forrest for the trees

.45 has roughly twice the momentum to impart on the target. Basic physics, that cannot be argued. Significantly larger expanded diameter, another basic fact that cannot be argued. Bigger hole equals more damage, more bleeding, more nerves screaming.

I have read and heard too many instances of 9 mm not stopping threats.

Obviously, others are free to make their own choices.

Just ask Gabby Giffords about the lethality of 9mm at point blank range.

    Sorry.
Are you saying improvements on the bullets across the three calibers are not equal?

    I just presumed they were.

ETA: And I had stated that the improvements were equal.

They are not equal. The "technology" brings service pistol calibers to their limit, terminally. There's only so much you can do with something that is going less than 2000 feet per second

Thats why the real reason is capacity, recoil, and cost

Because capacity, recoil, cost, availability, and variety of loads and firearms in that caliber are also factors. Factors that are more important than a 1 or 2% difference in ballisctics

As of today, 9mm wins gold in all of those factors
