    Damn.
    You pay $700/monthly for two?

I pay like 2k/yearly for two.
Of course I have my house with same company.

700 for 3 drivers, one young, 2 vehicles full coverage. Now 3 vehicles.

Dropped the old truck to liability & UM and dropped roadside on the new one, dealer-covered.

We got sued in 2017 for a bullshit rear-end my wife was in. I think that hiked our rates.

What is your driving record? What is your location? etc/ etc

Fort Worth. I’ve had one moving violation (illegal U-turn) past 3 years. Wife probably has a speeding ticket in that time frame.

Well it turned out I was talking to an idiot.

I had to get someone else and have them explain all dollar amounts in full-term premiums.

It’s not as bad as it sounded originally but I’m gonna shop it.

Try Ameriprise thru Costco. Can't do much about high rates for your teen son but we have had them for our car and home for awhile. I could have gotten a cheaper auto policy thru Liberty Mutual but when you factor in the home policy it was nowhere near close.

I'm eager to look at some USAA, not just insurance. I'm a long time member, but dumped them back in 1983 due to them screwing up my IRA and refusing to fix it.

But they have closed all their satellite offices and their website is of no use. Is it all a telephone deal these days ?

I bank exclusively thru the website and app, with an infrequent phone call.

It’s pretty much the only way to bank with them.

Revolverguy.... Good to know you talked to an idiot and not the insane amount you thought. In your case driving record is not bad and shouldnt be a factor. One guy I know has a couple DWI convictions, several speeding tickets, lapsed registration ticket and he is close to 700 a month SR22 etc.

USAA has been and will most likely continue to become less and less attractive as an option. I've had them since my first days in the army 16 years ago and Navy Federal offers better rates. Only reason I haven't changed is because of how easy it is to deal with things on their website and phone app. For me, convenience and usability is more important than saving a bit every 6 month renewal. I'm not sure what their deal is with becoming less enticing. Even their phone support employees are getting a bit less professional. At some point I will cut them loose, probably once my Titan is paid off since I won't have any vehicle loans and that will be less "product" I have from them and as a result my premiums will go up.

How often do you have to deal with your insurance to need convenience to factor in?

My suggestion is, if you hit me, have the best insurance out there.

Seriously though, have the insurance companies compete for your business.

I bank exclusively with Navy Federal now. After they added the ability to deposit checks from the app, I have no need to have a local bank anymore. I dropped USAA insurance a few years ago when it was cheaper to bundle home and auto insurance with other companies, and save around $1,500/ year.

Personally I like a local person to deal with. One that I can march into their office and raise a stink if I need to instead of sitting on hold or waiting for a chat window or reply email.

I can text, call, email, or visit my insurance agent, plus they have an app and website too. I do use the website to pay the bill since they let me use a credit card with only a small fee. I get 2.5% cash back from the card, and I pay it off each month, so I come out ahead that way.

My Geico agent is at the place where my car is being repaired, they just approved more money because some hail dents were too deep to pull out without repainting, and I didn't have to have it reestimated, so no waiting to continue work.

I check my account daily since I'm anal about my money, I have an IRA with them that is managed by them that I keep a close eye on, I also deposit checks infrequently with them with their app. Their website just makes everything easy for me. It isn't just the insurance in my case, its all of their services. But on the insurance side, I mainly just print the ID cards, look at the rates being charged, and modify my insurance as a vehicle gets older. I try to keep the 20% extra in payment if a vehicle is totaled. I guess in the end, I could change now but I'm going to wait until the vehicles are paid.

I pay $125 for car insurance a month and $175 a month for home insurance a month. $ less than 100 a year for motorcycle insurance. All with progressive. I tried USAA but I hate their customer service and I live close enough to go there in person.

How anyone could hate USAA customer service is beyond me. Best in the business--bar none. I've been with them just shy of 40 years as a customer.

We were with Allstate from 2007 until about a month ago.

FINALLY, about 28 years after I got out of the Army, I called USAA.

Saved us almost $3200 a year on 7 cars, 5 houses. ANd that's with MORE coverage on our home and rent houses.

Our son was off of our policy in January of this year, and our daughter has been off for over a year, so this savings is independent of them being independent :)

They don't write policies on motorcycles in Texas, but I only carry liability on those, so they're already pretty cheap.

Call USAA if you you're eligible.
Even though they no longer cover motorcycles in Texas, they have some sort of cooperative agreement with Progressive, so that USAA customers can get great insurance for their bikes. I'm pretty certain USAA rides herd on Progressive to be certain that their customers are treated right, but I have no proof of that.
