What about Sturgeon? No pics with 6'ers?
In case you missed some of my comments on how I came to Texas.

I moved to Portland in 2011 from Washington. After my fiance died I found it hard to live in the house which we had built as "our" home in Washington. About a year and a half after I moved, I found that my mental stability needed a bigger change. I decided to travel the country on my bike, but I didn't want anything that would make me look back. I sold, gave away or threw away everything I had except what I could carry, not knowing where I would end up. I have very little of my past except memories and photos I had posted on my Facebook page. My life in Eastern Washington, unless someone else has evidence, exists only in my memories.

As far as Sturgeon, it was mainly an excuse to sit out in a boat and drink, but the stinkier the bait was the best.

That's the first time I've heard that, easy. It sounds liberating in a sense but I'm sorry for the circumstances that brought you to it.

A friend of mine lost nearly everything he owned in the Camp Fire last year when his storage unit burned down while he was living in Europe. He said the feeling was terrifyingly liberating.

I couldn't express my feelings of freedom I had while I was traveling, it was one the most liberating experiences of my life.

Yeah, I use to travel all over Oregon, Washington and Northern California, and many times when I came to a point and just stare down the road thinking "What would happen if I just kept going?" One day I woke up thinking about that. Knowing how unhappy I was, I told myself "screw it, I'm going to find out".

Quit a job with an American company in Australia and spent the next year wandering 3/4 of the way around the world, often not sure where the next meal was coming from or where I would spend the night. All I owned was in a backpack.

While it wasn't due to a tragedy like your's, I have an appreciation for the liberation you felt.

It sure didn't make me feel better a few years later when I bought a washer and dryer and my muse could no longer follow my feet.

Yeah, I hear ya. But, it did eventually lead me to the job of my dreams. Maybe not for the pay I would like to be making, but then I wouldn't trade this job for one I wouldn't like for twice the pay.
