My son was hanging out of the business end of a tanker over North Dakota. He took a picture like that. When he got it developed (we had to do that back then) I recognized the pilot as a friend of mine who flew out of Peoria, Ill. Rather neat, I thought.

And it seemed to work better for takeoff than for landing:They ran out of JATO, so they don't use it anymore. Last use was 2009
