Silly is the word that enters my mind.

On a more dangerous note, it's the nonsense about civil war and social upheaval that fueled the recent Dallas shooter wing-nut.

"...the storm is coming...." seems to be his radiantly misguided mantra that drove his id to his fortunate demise.

Totally ridiculous to throw in the latest insane individual who represents no one and has no meaning and no bearing on this discussion, which is much broader than the odd sicko and more about the demise of the Union brought on by the erosion of rights and what could happen should they continue.

But of course I'm sure you already knew that. Never let a good crisis go to waste, right?

Failure to communicate, that's correct. It's difficult to communicate with the social elitist who do not listen. They are privy to the only true way.

Some truth here. It's become near impossible to have a civil conversation about politics. The Dens seem more intolerant than ever. I've had two people I consider friends stop talking to me over it.

It could be a full blown panic after Hillary lost. To be honest, I was surprised he won. And I voted for Trump. I suppose there are millions like me who don't tow any party's line, and voted against the crook more than for Trump.

All we can do is vote, especially at the local level.

Personally I voted FOR Trump. What he said resonated for me. The fact of who he was running against made it a no-brainer. When you dig around you will find a lot of great stuff he has done that the MSM won't report, it doesn't fit their agenda. I have never seen such biased reporting that I can remember.

I kinda believe he uses Twitter as a deflection tactic to the leftists.

Again, I blame most of our problems on social media and the news media
    .
There is a story on Google this morning about a model that took nude selfie photos of herself. The photos were hacked. The hacker threatened to expose her if she didn't pay. The model posted the photos on her own to thwart the hacker.

Whoopi Goldberg commented on this on her TV show. She said if you don't want that kind of stuff hacked, then don't take the photos. Common sense right!!

Well the model blasted Whoopi for making her feel bad about herself. Many other social media users chimed in as well. This smells of a model who is looking for attention and to further her career and Facebook followers.

People need to start being responsible for themselves and their actions. The Army taught me self respect and respect for others.

I haven’t made it all the way through the thread, so forgive me if I repeat someone else’s opinion. There has been talk of this for years. Remember the run on guns and ammo early in Obama’s second term?

Only the naive wish for a military conflict. The death and destruction would be beyond imagination. Not everyone would be involved, but everyone would be affected.

Beyond our comfort level that has been discussed earlier, there are other problems with an ideologically driven Civil War. Unlike the War Between The States, there are no set borders for the political divide. Just look at Texas with the left leaning cities of Austin and Houston, and the right leaning rural areas of the State.

An internal war, if it were to ever happen, would look like the Bolshevik’s and other communist revolutions (hostile take overs). The difference being that currently, it is the right who own most of the weapons. The question is, which side would be revolting?

Wars usual have economic causes. Nobody wants to fight if they can put food on the table for their families. The Revolutionary War was fought because of oppressive taxes and the Civil War was fought over oppressive tariffs. The next Civil War will probably be fought when we can’t service our enormous and ever growing deficit.

We are all tied up in the digital system they have created. I read the following in an article earlier this year: if you have a bank account, mortgage, credit card, etc... they already have you where they want you. Here is a false scenario that may happen,

........what if a left leaning..... establishes an executive order into law stating that all firearms shall be turned in immediately. Obviously it oversteps the 2nd amendment, but WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?... Not comply or take to social media and whine?... fine they simply freeze your assets, wealth, and comforts of home until you eventually comply

If you were to look in the cabinet under a typical household kitchen sick, you would see cleaning supplies (among other thing). So would anyone else that looked, myself included. What I would also see are the makings of a hell of a lot of mischief. And fun on a 4th July holiday out in the sticks.

Same with the web. It's a national military asset, a strategic and tactical weapon. And something else, much more devasting and terrifying in what it implies. Far worse than atomics. Any ideas what that could be?

The web, using cookies, tracking and other methods, can provide targeted advertising specific to your interests and offers to sell you those products. It has many other uses, mlst tied to business, marketing, serives, and entertainment. What people fail to consider is could it be used for nefarious reasons other than the obvious; theft of intellectual proprty, hacking, or espionage?

Yet the War Between the States was fought over states' rights, there was no issue of not having food on the table. Nor were oppressive tariffs the primary cause.

Wars are also fought over struggles for power, probably more often than for pure economic reasons.

Conservatives by nature want to conserve what they have. Family values and morals are paramount. A belief that hard work brings rewards (home, food, recreation, security and so on). Innovation thrives, since hard work and diligence can bring about prosperity to the individual.

There is no place for that, for most all, in a socialist society. While the elites still maintain much of that, the vast majority works for the whole. It also breeds distrust, since rewards may come in the form of turning in your friends or family for malfeasance to the state. Free medical, free schooling, free housing, free food.... doesn't mean you can live in the lap of luxury at someone else's expense. Innovation is all but dead, since only the elite will benefit.

As I said before, I hope there will never be a need for war. It wouldn't be fought over night. Only about a third of the country would be involved directly, but all will suffer. I don't think I would survive to the end of a civil war, but if the end is socialism, it's for the better.

That's how I see what's happening now. One side is struggling to conserve what we have and the other is moving more and more towards socialism.
