If we have a major catastrophe where the power goes out for more than 2 weeks I have enough fuel and supplies to get where I am going, which won't be here in DFW. I have a plan... BTW.. in 6 months you'll want to be away from any major city... Nuclear power plants have 2 weeks of diesel generator fuel to keep the cooling systems going. After that every last one of them will go into meltdown.

You won't want to be within 100 miles of any of these little blue stars on this map.

It takes way less than 2 weeks to shut down a nuclear reactor. I bet they’ll be fine.

I'm 2 houses away from an elementary school. My plan has always been to raid their pantry as soon as the sirens go off.

To think about it. There's one down the street from me. It's not far but not close. There's a couple restaurants up the street. They all have a storage freezer. Better get to it before it gos bad. Right?

This is where I would miss my old stomping grounds in Oregon. While the world goes to hell, I’d just be in the mountains enjoying some coffee.

If I couldn’t get up there I would go out by eliminating as many tweakers as I could. Don’t judge me. Lol.

I could see myself doing that here if things were truly lawless. I’ll remove the tweakers and build a supply station for all my tgt boys.

I have nothing. I don’t believe in hoarding supplies or being prepared with a bug out location.

I've been poor enough that the only meat for me and two children was shot. 15 years ago.

Squirrels, rabbit, deer. The rest was rice or noodles.

500 rds of 22lr will feed a family for months on end. That's if your next to a large chunk of woods. One small doe is enough meat for awhile. Longer then you'd think.

You are making a wrong headed assumption my well meaning friend.
While in part you are right, a box of 22s will shoot lots of game and feed mouths... providing that there is game in the first place. When a wide spread SHTF or TEOTWAWKI event happens and every swinging pecker head from every town big or small with a rifle hits the woods to go after those squirrels, rabbits, deer, ...whatever, it won’t take long before there isn’t anything.
My dad told me what it was like right after the Great Depression, when people poached game animals for food. He said that there wasn’t much to be had.
Look at the records, in the early 1900s there were basically no white tails left. If it weren’t for increased hunting restrictions and conservation work, the heard wouldn’t have come back.
So, don’t bet your families lives on a box of 22 and a rifle for food when the BIG one hits. You’d better have some sort back up plan.

Further more, unless you have lots of privately owned land, where is the average person going to get their game in a SHTF situation?
If you go trodding off across some ranchers place with a rifle, you might get your head blown off by the rancher who is also aware of the SHTF situation and is determined to protect his land and resources against poachers....

Fort Hood federal land are government owned lands that don't shoot your head off.

We need to discuss this rancher. What's he got? Ammo? Beef? One could hope he starts shooting. In a hungry way. It'll be more meaningful. Must be something really good he's defending. For a curious mind, that'd be a bad thing. The deal is is everyone stays quiet. Live and let live.

I need more jars of peanut butter.
