I’m really interested in the Colorado diesel. Only thing is I don’t like with newer diesel rigs is exhaust fluid.

I was going mention the diesel Colorado but I don’t know squat about them.

DEF isn’t the devils juice, but it seems if you’re going diesel nowadays, you’ll need to be putting a load on the motor more often to make it happy.

Thanks guys, really helping me out. I would love to find a manual in a Tacoma. Gas engine little truck wise I’m leaning toward the Toyota Tacoma. I think build quality will be better than Nissan or Chevy ie frontier & Colorado.

Though I love manual windows. Yes I’m mentally 80 years old with my rigs. I freaking hate power windows. I see the frontiers have manual windows still.

I had always been a Chevy guy up until the bailouts. Once I realised how bad off Crysler & Chevy were financially it made me think of the corners that would be cut to save a buck during manufacturing.

When it was time for a new truck I went with a Ecoboost F150. It's at 96k & I'm getting the dreaded cold start knock. I'm wanting to dump this thing & go with the newer F150 w/V8.

My next personal vehicle will be a Tacoma.. I expect my corolla to last until I'm dead.. I'm 37 now and it has 42k miles on it and is 3 years old.

I too like manual windows. How about a Wrangler? Can be had with manual transmission and manual windows, just choose how many doors you want. I would recommend the hardtop also.

I'm getting to the same situation as you, so here's what I'm considering. Right now I've got a 2wd f150. Solid truck, but bigger than what I need. I rarely tow anything, however I have to haul stuff almost weekly and occasionally stuff that requires a truck so the SUV's are out. 4wd requirement for me is so rare, that's out.

That leaves me with the mid sized trucks. I do frequently travel off road, so at least I want a limited slip. The only options are:
Frontier - no LS, ageing design, getting updated next year.
Taco - solid choice, but the priceiest of the options.
Ranger - revived this year and should be out soon. I had an old Ranger and loved it. Not keen on buying a first year model, but it's going to be a while before I purchase.
Colorado - on paper, lots of options. Diesel only available in certain models. I just don't like Chebbies.
Ridgeline - sort of a truck, rides like a stiff car. Kinda weird, but my father in law had one and I drove it a lot.

Well, there it is for what it's worth.

It doesn’t snow much here. It will ice; 4WD won’t help with ice. ?????????????? I beg to differ.

I test drove an eco diesel Grand Cherokee in CO. It was nice and the motor wasn’t the same one in the Ram with all its problems.

I think the diesel option was only available in the high end option packages.

Cherokees have had reliability problems with electrical harnesses. I’d stay away from them.

Given a Taco or a Silverado, I’d go for a Taco with the manual trans, but I’m not sure that was available with 4WD. You’ll probably get more value with the Silverado as they’re a dime a dozen and they depreciate pretty quickly.

Looking forward, I’ll probably replace my current ‘10 F150 with a nearly new Hemi Ram 1500 4WD in a few years.

Agreed guys I need to look at a Tacoma. I’m eyeing the Tacoma frontier and Colorado. As Robert mentioned I have looked at the ridge line but the newer models look like they are getting closer to the ground. The new ranger coming out looks interesting. However I still think it will come down to Toyota or Nissan. On one hand I see the frontier is everywhere cheaper and I can find manual windows with a manual transmission. But here’s the thing with cheaper stuff...I think it will go longer for me in Texas. I’m not gonna be in the mountains anymore beating my rig up. Hell...it’s gonna feel weird not pin striping it. My wheel bearings might actually last until I get rid of it...whaaat

I should have been more specific on the Frontier, they don't come with LS from the factory - it can of course be added. I've got a couple of buddies at work that have them with the V6 and have had zero problems.

I know it's not what the OP is looking for, and unfortunately is nothing like it's namesake.
Nothing is lol. I never had anything past an 06. I’m not too attracted to new body styles. I like a truck that’s got a boxy look.

Once I got a 4x4 truck after living with a 2wd I’ll never go back. I live at the beach and need the ground clearance and the 4x4. Also helps that I can haul spools of wire, conduit, strut, a 46” cut lawnmower or whatever I need to haul in it.

I figured out a way around getting bad gas mileage too. I bought a $3000 reliable car for when I need to do car stuff. Best of both worlds.

Also a customer of mine said his new titan gets over 20mpg all day long.
