All the time. I just don’t answer any number I do t recognize. I’d do the do not disturb thing if there were more options.

Irony: ATT sells your number and then sells you an app to block unwanted calls.

It should be illegal for folks to sell the number I’m paying for. We tend to deal harshly with folks who sell the same item to multiple buyers. Why not here??

I'm sure ATT is well aware what they are doing, so I'm not sure I would call it ironic. You are paying for a service, not a number. A number will be reassigned if you decide not to pay for the service.

Woohoo! Turns out the stock phone app in Android One/Oreo/8.1 on my new Nokia has a full caller ID and spam protection built in, i.e. if at all available, info regarding an unknown number will be displayed even if you don't have it already stored. Both incoming and outgoing calls. And a spam warning for spam calls.

Also, if you're getting woken up by a call in the middle of the night, that's kinda your own fault. Automatic "do not disturb!" rules for the win!

Calling in the middle of the night is against federal law.

Some of us never turn our ringer off in case a child or grandchild calls for help.

Said automatic do not disturb rules can be set to allow exceptions for selected numbers.
Also, how inconsiderate, calling for help in the middle of the night! ;)
Referring back to some statements I made in the 'white girl cop shoots black guy in his apt.' thread about my younger days and how I spent them, one time evil forces pulled the asphalt out from under me and made a light pole jump right in front and then on top of my car upon which I was conveyed to the nearest place of medical attention and observation, bleeding only slightly from several injuries and the friendly guys who saw to my well-being inquired whether they should call my parents or whomever. "Hells bells", I exclaimed, or words to that effect, "it's in the middle of the night, you want I should give my mother a heart attack? I'll call upon her on the morrow, my good friend!"

So far today, 6 random unwanted calls. Probably get another around 7:30 ish. Glad it's Friday, they usually lay off on the weekends.

I work real estate, and pretty much need to answer unknown calls - otherwise, people call other agents!
Beware that most of the calls are 'spoofed' numbers, and the number appearing in the Caller ID are *NOT* the actual originating number!

I can second that. I keep getting calls from numbers I have blocked on my call blocker. Wouldn't happen unless they were spoofed.

    Sure, but it's no problem.

    Why not?

I let my answering machine handle them.

If they leave a message I care to return, I might or not, depends...but mostly, not.

    No problem.

    Turn all off when napping!

    Easy!

I actually enjoy getting bogus calls because unless it's a robo, some schmuck will be disappointed with their crappy job cuz because I didn't answer and they may quit to do something productive with their lives rather bother people.

Yes, I have an optimistic and active imagination...

    Thanks for the belly laugh!

Yeah, I often hear about emergencies, but few actually happen.

Or, if bothered by the notion of emergencies, start taking serotonin uptake inhibitors and you'll stop being so anxious...or drink a lot of booze.

Wait, forget the inhibitors, just drink a lot, that's the ticket...your worries will be few.

Sorry, can't laugh at that joke.
I guess you don't have a daughter that has seizures.

No, but I've read the manual for my phone.
